What are the odds this posh-boy govt. will suddenly, surprisingly find a few million in order to alleviate their mates' discomfort and losses>

Pickles is pooh-poohing the idea that we should cut foreign aid to the likes of India and China to divert it to Our Own Folk.

He reckons the way to fight global warming / extreme weather is to give our brass to them so that they change their fossil fuel ways (wtf?!?!? )

Of course, what he is really doing is playing politics as he is aware the Left criticise the 'mean' Right if they dare slash Foreign Aid, and the dumb public take note.

So rather than help his own people and our crumbling coastline, he puts his own party's re-election as the priority.

Let's make big sealed plastic containers and just store sea water on land. Two birds with one stone. :p

Either that or ship it to somewhere really dry like the Sahara desert.

    It's not rocket science.

It's pretty shocking.... Taking me an hour and a half to do about 15 miles every morning to work! All the major roads around the area (Reading) are either flooded or chaos. Thankfully I'm escaping back up north for a couple of days tomorrow, (if I can get out)

Just been on the news, apparently the PM has said money is no object to help those in need in the flooded areas( Home Counties).

The **** never said that when it happened here.

Well it bloody well should be. How come we in the north are suffering cuts to all public services, and yet those in the south are promised unlimited funds to sort out what is essentially a private matter. It doesn't matter which bunch of clown-shoed mongs are in power, the rank unfairness of southerners being given tax money to help them when those in the north have been ignored after identical flooding events stinks to high heaven.

Last night, i actually heard for the first time someone say this on national media. It took over very own Look North's pint-sized Paul Hudson to do so on Radio 4 but at least it's a start.

Makes me sick. A few hundred hoity toity fookers get flooded and Dynamite Dave is there with the army while Tesco send a ****load of hay bales down. Where the f**k was all this help in 2007 and indeeed just 2 months ago? Ive tweeted all the major news outlets I can think to raise this very point but it seems to have had little effect. Maybe I'm not quite the OneCall Bigshot I believed....

edit - or did Eddie Mair get Hudson on Today after I raised this very point? Phew, all is back to normal.

Jeremy Vine had it right on his show yesterday, he said nobody cares about the effluent, until it reaches the affluent.

I don't have a clue what you're talking about there, where was this flooding a couple of months ago?

NB: I'm not being argumentative, the fact I genuinely don't know says more about the difference in coverage than anything else.
