Abd thinks were as good as any in the division<steam>

You are having a larf, the table says you are as bad as any the division.

    http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20140211-elabdpreorient-1353056.aspx

Defender believes City can compete with the best in League One.
Adam El-Abd believes player for player City are as good as any team in Sky Bet League One.

The Robins travel to third-placed Leyton Orient tonight (7.45pm) having already faced promotion chasers Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford in recent weeks.

City lost both of those games but the new centre-back, signed recently from Brighton & Hove Albion, believes Steve Cotterill’s side showed enough to get something from both games.

“We’ve gone to Wolves and Brentford and been in the game, because player for player we are as good as any team,” El-Abd told Bristol City Player.

“You look at the squad list - we are a talented bunch. The reason we haven’t been winning games is because we have been conceding too many goals.

“We have nothing to fear against any team in this division, we just need to make sure we are more compact, stop conceding goals and give a chance for our strikers and flair players to win us games, because we’ve got match-winners.

“If we can stem the flow and keep some clean sheets we will climb the league and end up making it look comfortable – but it needs to start happening now.”

In Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic, Cotterill opted for a 4-3-3 formation and El-Abd believes the team looked more solid as a result.

He added: “A back three was something new to me. Moving to a back four enabled us to be a bit more solid as a unit.

“I feel it was a more compact performance in terms of conceding just one goal – an excellent strike from 30 yards out, which seems to be the way it is going at the moment.

“I’m sure if we continue to perform how we have been, we will pick up some points.”

Seriously RR what do you want him to say??

"Yes we are complete ****e, we're going down without a fight"

I stopped listening to players interviews a long time ago, they are the same stale, clichéd crap which 90% of the time makes no sense, but at least he's trying to be positive

Man for Man we are as good as any and better than the majority.... SOD however sucked any belief, confidence and fight out of this club and this is why we are where we are. Cotterill now has to not only try and fix those things but has to do it in a very short time. I don't care if we stay up by 1 on GD. He would have done what he was brought in to do. As for El-Abd he should perhaps read his interview and believe it..... so far he's been nothing but a let down and we've looked worse with him in the squad. Hopefully Osborne is fit and he can come in, in place of AEA

Well he is never going to say we don't really have a chance, and at the end of the day there is no reason why we can't be competitive in every game and match the other team just look at Tuesday nights result that shows we can match anyone in this league as we best a promotion chasing team away from home. However, we do have a lot of off days so I'm not as positive as the start of this post suggests.

Let's just hope they have started to click and put the club in a reasonable position in this very very poor league<applause>
