I think the summer is quite simple, it's a case of: Priority: Livermore, then the defence, then a midfielder and a bench striker if Fryatt leaves. So other than Livermore, it is only really the defence that needs looking at. We need another left-back and an improved centre-back. I'd like to see us go for Harry Maguire from Sheff Utd, or if Cardiff or Fulham go down: Hangeland or Caulker. Any of those 3 would compliment Davies well. Left-back - I think too much emphasis is being placed on Joe Dudgeon by people - the lad has been out for a long time and has never played Premier League football before. I think he's more likely to get loaned out to a Championship club for 6-12 months to gain some game time and match fitness/sharpness first.
Apart from changing the team name. How about tapping the far east market with a few slight name changes to our players.... I'll start Robert Korean.... Feel free to add more.
Erik on a wind up? I hope this is just the usual guff in the papers. Plus, we're not safe yet so why talk about the summer.
Joe Dudgeon can play left or right back. He'd be a good signing! There's left full back/midfield player called Connor Townsend who could come good also
Man Utd are looking at Caulker and i would expect them to get him in the summer regardless of where Cardiff are. IMO, i expect to see Turner back to us as a FAT in the summer. Would add to what we have already defence wise. Dudgeon and Townsend offer the competition for Figueroa at left back but maybe loan Townsend out to a championship side at some point but with a recall just in case.
Turner was great for us, but hasn't done as well since he left, I don't think there's much chance of a return.
I do. The price makes it so. Plus coming back to where he had his best days will get him going again,.
That is my whole point. He needs to be back where he belongs. Our summer spending should be centered on Livermore and Rhodes, imo.
Glad you're not in Bruce's shoes. Man Utd bought Smalling and Jones as 'promising defenders' - they're desperate for results again, Moyes isn't going to buy another 'promising' player, he'll be going for european pedigree. He can't afford to gamble on an 'up-and-coming' player. Turner spends more time on the treatment table or trying to catch up with strikers these days. I think he'd be a pointless 'sideways step' for us, rather than an improvement, though with Faye and Bruce out of contract in the summer, I can see us bringing in 2 centre-backs. 1 to take Faye's place and one to fight it out with Chester and McShane to partner Davies. You think a player who has only ever played in League One and a player who has only played approximately half a season in the championship should be our main back-up for Figueroa? Both need experience and in the case of Dudgeon - fitness. Both will probably go out on loan. I see Bruce bringing in another left-back with Figueroa becoming back-up. ....and I very much doubt we'll spend a huge chunk of our summer budget on Rhodes after just spending £14 million on a new strikeforce. Only striker we'll need is a 4th choice striker if Fryatt leaves.
We definitely won't go for Rhodes and I fear for Dudgeon, we might never see him play for us again, it seems he has the same problem that Ash had and it doesn't seem to be responding to treatment.
I've been worried about this for a while. Really hope he comes through it. He's got a decent career ahead of him if he can get fit.
Sounds if he is at least back doing some work if he has done his hamstring, lets hope so, as he has a future if he can get right.
Deffo need another striker irrespective of whether Fryatt stays or not; Sagbo will never be a successful striker end of!
