The highlighted sentence is patently true; 3 points would make a huge difference in terms of both table and confidence. The second sentence though is patently false. Why would I slate someone for getting something right? Anyway, I never "slate" anyone; I just gently chide them.
I accept that Robbie, I have been waiting for your comeback. The point though surely is, that by winning tonight it has to be bigger because we would be automatically taking points off a rival - whereas beating Arsenal wouldl not have the same immediate impact.
In terms of importance I really don't think it matters that we are playing a notional "relegation rival" tonight. At some point it will be possible to say that this or that club can't now better our points + GD total, but we are nowhere near that point yet with 13 games (and a possible 39 points) to go. It's just a matter of keeping picking up points irrespective of who we happen to be playing in this or that game. Tonight will yield either no points, one point, or three points, that's all. One will be welcome, three will be even better; if it turns out to be none we move on to the next game. OTBC!
Phew! Come on Liverpool! Just need the Swans to get their act together for us. Maybe I should just skip our match days and concentrate on the matches of people around us in the table?
Swans equiliser! If anyone is having trouble sleeping just tune into the Arsenal vs Man U game. Will have you off in seconds!
The results this week don't change things a great deal.Home draws for Cardiff and West Brom and defeat for Hull does not help them greatly.Sunderland and palace now have games in hand but as they are away at Citeh and Everton they won't be counting many chickens. It's still looking like the 36/7 point safety mark that I first predicted back in November. It's worth looking at the current form table (last 8) Fulham have four points and Cardiff five. With us and Stoke next on six.Significantly these are the bottom two who are failing to maintain a point a game by a long way.If this continues, indeed if they pick up to a point a game from now, then we would expect both clubs to finish the season on 32 and 34 respectively. It's then a fight to avoid 18th. So my latest prediction would see the table look like this. 18 A N Other 36 19 Cardiff 34 20 Fulham 32
Last season, from the next seven games coming up, City picked up four wins and three draws. So Cruyff, if City can repeat this, we should be safe before the Fulham game.
The next run of games will be make or break IMO. The potential is there, we just have to realise it and get a run of results.
