Apologies Munky, my wording was ambiguous. What I meant was exactly what you say yourself in the above paragraph, i.e. the recent years (under Fletcher and Flower) have been the most successful of the past two decades. I didn't at all mean that the past two decades have been the most successful in English cricket! It's true that KP has played his part in the success; but so have others and IMO others have been more important than KP and have contributed with greater consistency.
Fair do's about your earlier comment, I looked again and it was my misinterpretation of what you said. I still disagree with what you said about Botham and Gower though.
Re. cricket's "Galacticos", I guess what I'm saying is that, however good they are, they are nothing without the platform provided for them by the rest of the team. Building that platform is the most important thing and if a great talent is proving an obstruction there's really only one sensible course of action.
