It's the ones who ride on the road where there's a perfectly good cycle path that runs along side, bought and paid for by us taxpayers. No road tax, probably no insurance for the road and a stubborn refusal to make use of the route built for them thus holding up the traffic....creating irritable drivers etc etc ad nauseam. Grrr
East stand up date: http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...t_Stand_opening_has_been_pushed_back/?ref=rss
Cyclists are taxpayers who do 1/100000 as much damage to roads as motorists, not to mention the amount of healthcare needed to look after lazy couch-potatoes behind the wheel. But being even-handed about this, It's the selfish drivers who park in cycle lanes that annoy me the most, apart from apathetic police officers who seem to think that killing a cyclist is like disposing of vermin, and judges who think manslaughter is equivalent to shoplifting if the victim is a cyclist. Not that I'm predjudiced.
"Watford won't confirm if East Stand opening has been pushed back" I read it quickly and thought they'd moved the entrance. It's been a long week...
I drive, I ride, I'm for every road user who uses the road correctly and against every road user who doesn't irrespective of if its 2 4 or no wheels, and by correctly I also mean keep out of my way!!!!!
Reading the article looks to me like progress but in line with the weather and there will no doubt be issues with workers and materials, interesting that work expected soon on the corner as well..
All I'm saying is that if there is a cycle lane then use the damned thing - it's not just there to keep cyclists safe but to keep traffic moving on the road and prevent the frustration of being held up. If you get knocked off in the road when there is a cycle lane adjacent then tough titty. Ditto a car parked on a cycle lane... if it loses a wing mirror or gets a scrape along its length, tough titty. If it wasn't there where it shouldn't be, it wouldn't happen. I shouldn't read to much into stand delays it was never going to be an easy job.
This is about a cyclist and a football player so feel sure it is the right thread. One of them could be moving. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/ne...ared_jail_after__road_rage__attack/?ref=var_0
Good to see common sense prevailed. The cyclist is lucky to get away with such a stupid maneuver and then getting aggressive too could potentially have been deemed an assault. By the sounds of things Nyron was well within his rights to push the cyclist away from him and its just extremely bad luck that the cyclist sustained those injuries.
True, but when it comes to cyclists and pedestrians, the law can be a total ass. Years ago in Oz, a friend of mine was driving down a tree lined street when a young boy fell out of one of the trees and landed on the bonnet of his car, breaking a leg and an arm in the process. He was done for careless driving, was both fined and ordered to pay the boy's medical costs - and having been found guilty, his insurance company refused to stump up for the damage done to the car. Apparently he should have been aware that there was a boy up the tree and that there was the possibility that he might fall out....
Waste of time and money - they could have just told both parties to grow up and avoid physical conduct rather than use tax payers money to take it to court for nothing.
Of course he should have seen that coming. He shouldn't have been on the road! What was he thinking? Thats just ludicrous! How the hell was he supposed to foresee that happening??
Depends on whether the tree was deciduous or coniferous and what time of the year it was. If it was winter and the trees were deciduous, then there would have been no leaves and the driver should have been able to see the boy. Otherwise the driver could have made a good case that he couldn't have seen him. Good grief - should this not be on the Hornet's Nest III thread? This is hardly club news.
This is club news. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10999990.No_fresh_injuries_for_Birmingham_test/
Sorry to answer this here -but I don't know how to transfer comments to another thread. Like most trees on Northern Australian footpaths, it was a poinciana - an evergreen and noted shade tree, so the time of year was irrelevant.
