I'm not here to cause problems, I understand you've had enough on this forum in the past 24 hours. I am though astonished at how (some) Sunderland supporters don't really have an opinion, they just choose what they're going to say based on what suits them. Firstly Nolan, about a week ago, before rumours of him leaving surfaced, there were posts on the NUFC forum saying he wouldn't get in the team. I admit he will be sorely missed off the field, but he scored 3 goals in the second half of the season this year, so I don't believe we will miss him too much on the field. Also about a week ago, I read a post on the Mackem forum that was largely agreed with, that you hoped Sunderland would sign Demba Ba before we do. Now that you've lost out, I see loads of you saying how bad he is and laughing at the singning. SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!...
Its the nature of football fans my Geordie friend although both you and I know we all have idiots on our boards and unfortunately you will probably get some pretty mindless answers back on this thread, good luck.
2 Things, 1 Nolan will be a big big miss for you. Don't kid yourself. 2 If you get Ba, you have done well.
Agree with this. Most mackems are fine, there are just a handful of posters who take things too far on occasions. Everyone has their opinion though and are entitled to it.
Personality wise yes, player wise, on occasions we will miss him, but I believe we do have a good replacement in Ben Arfa.
on a brighter note for the skunks - at least you they won't have to witness Nolan doing that stupid hand signal every time he scores.
I had to laugh when I read this one....Almost every article regarding anything about Sunderland is hijacked by Mags making negative comments on it...And because of a few comments made about Nolan leaving, you come on here spouting insults... For God's sake some of your lads who previously had said Henderson was useless, were back on saying we are allowing our best player to leave a few days later... It's just the nature of football banter between rivals such as ourselves, so get over it.
Hand signal? I will miss the chicken, being amongst 3000 mags doing the 'Nolan' after he scored was brilliant.
Off that there's no doubt.. Nevertheless, he will be a huge loss, same with Barton etc.. Is it a forward step, or a step backwards?
Ba is a good player though and no doubt if he signed for us we would also be happy and we would have NUFC fans telling us about his dodgey knee etc haha For a free signing though (except wages & signing on fee) you cant really go too much wrong even if he crumbles after a few games.
Isn't Ba asking for HUGE wages, something like 65k per week??? If true, he's all yours. Think that was the general consensus.
I've said this before. I've never rated Nolan massively. I know he destroyed us this year, no denying that, but I just don't really rate him as a player. Not sure why, not biased though I felt the same when he was at Bolton. I think Ashley's been wise in getting him off the wage bill and bringing a few million in so you can move on quickly and not draw it out. Barton's saga seems to be doing just that so it will be interesting to see what happens there. You'll move on leaps and bounds by relying on Ben Arfa to do that job instead of relying on him to do so. Demba Ba is a funny one. I'd have taken him simply for the fact that we have no bloody forwards. Seemed to do well at West Ham so will most likely be a decent acquisition for you boys. I think the reason you're getting the stick for signing him is because quite a few Mags came on here and shoved the fact that you'd already signed Gervinho and Gameiro down our throats. Bit of a step down from them like! It's been suggested that he's a better player than Gyan by one of your lot. That's a ridiculous suggestion in my eyes but hey we all disagree on different things.
What he said, 12 games is a quarter of a season and I think the tendancy of a new club in a new country forces players to prove themselves, but now having possibly secured a move to a club on a 4/5 year contract on high wages, is the motivation to push himself still there? or will his knee problem suddenly flair up, sidelining him for 4/5 games if he doesn't really fancy it? Not a criticism of your new signing just another view of him. 65K a week (as has been mentioned, I don't know if it's true or not) I think who ever he goes to he will be a good signing, just a concern for me would be the high level of money. I wouldn't mind him here but saying that if he signs for you of course he's going to be rubbish and we'll laugh at you cos of it (not being nasty but thats the way it is and always will be)
Disco's comment. I think the reason you're getting the stick for signing him is because quite a few Mags came on here and shoved the fact that you'd already signed Gervinho and Gameiro down our throats. Bit of a step down from them like! -------------------------------- With this entirely.
Exactly, when he first appeared cracking little player and very highly rated, then **** knew what happened but a total waste of space since.
