Just had another call from the flood warning line that I should be prepared today for significant and severe flooding in our area. Taking the kids to school past the river and never seen it so high and it's starting to spill over. Wrasbury is already being evacuated and that's only 5 miles away...... Can't see it effecting me but I'm getting slightly nervous. Global warming ??? It's a myth I tell ya
Best wishes to all those that are and or may be affected by the floods .................. hope you all get out of it as best possible. Aussie
All the best Staines. To call the recent weather here bizarre, is an understatement. Floods of biblical proportions.
Stay safe everyone, good luck I hope you are not too badly affected. We've been lucky in this part of Kent so far.
All the best Stainsey. Stay safe mate. I'm stuck at a flooding in Kenley, South Croydon. I've been here for two days as I have a specialist 'High Volume Pump' qualification. They've asked me to go down to Somerset and help out there but now they might need us to stay up because of these recent flood alerts.
Stay safe Staines. It's bright n sunny today, so you may get some reduction in water levels. Although, I am secretly hoping that down the road at Sunbury the river overflows. That would mean our office would be shut and I would have a few additional days off work, although knowing my luck, they'd ask me to work out of our Manchester Office.
Yes, I live just off the A22 myself Nines and that flooding at Kenley is getting worse. They are decanting it into Purley now!
Stay safe Staines. Was supposed to be down in Staines for a customer meeting this afternoon but they cancelled it due to the flood risk and we are now having a different conversation about getting their back up data centre online in case Staines goes under - colleague was also working onsite in the Centrica office in Staines and was told to leave before 12 as they were starting disaster recovery plans.
Thanks for the support lads.....Still ok at mine but half a mile down the road the water is bursting out of the drains and causing major problems. They've even designated my local leisure centre as an evacuation centre !! Very surreal watching my local area on the news under water and worrying that i can't contact my mates mum in Walton while he is away on holiday and looks like she might already be underwater. PS Dave........Funniest post today and had me spit out my coffee and laugh out loud
Good luck with this to Staines & any others that may be affected. Amazing what a little bit of water can do!
The rainwater doesn't bother me too much bruv......It's just the s*** and p*** thats mixed in with it that is of concern
I'm back from it now and will hopefully get home to see the game. The water is getting pumped down the hill into a culvert outside Tesco's and then we're trying to re-divert it from there. It's a huge operation that's working well so far but Wednesday will be a big test when 40mm of rain is expected in the area.
Best of luck to anyone on here who's near the water, my garden lawn is saturated and has been for weeks, I dread to think of what it must be like to have that coming into your home...
