It was far simpler when goalies wore either green (or yellow) - very few colour clashes - except for Plymouth Argyle fixtures.

Of course, nobody in their right mind went out and bought a goalie replica kit then......

Then in that case the officials should not have worn black. They should have changed!

Maybe the officials only had yellow as an alternative and thought it best to clash with one rather than ten! :)

Aussie rugby league refs wear fluorescent pink. If it's manly enough for them....

Until the early 1900's pink was considered a boy's colour anyway, it's only in recent history been stolen by the girls!

Until Middlesex Panthers (then Crusaders) changed that - at first, it was quite funny seeing big fast bowlers wearing pink. Although, watching the Big Bash recently, they said that for the World Series Cricket, Kerry Packer put the West Indies in pink, so you had guys like Garner and Holding wearing that - I bet that was a sight!

Am I right in thinking Manu refused to wear last seasons away keeper kit unless it was completely unavoidable?

It was, but didn't last too long. Rumour in Oz at the time was that the Windies objected to being compared to neapolitan ice creams...

From memory, when I watched them in Brisbane in 1979 they were wearing maroon - and when they toured Queensland earlier in the year, they wore white with a maroon trim.

Technically you're absolutely right BHD but it doesn't seem to matter anymore, does it?
All down to the numpties running the game allowing black shirts which never used to happen until recently. At junior and intermediate level teams cannot wear black, only at senior level. Referees outside the pro game can only wear black with or without a white trim. Boots are of course black with or without white trim.

Referees should not wear black kits when we wear our home kit, we have too much black. The look of the kit on tv and in reality may be quite different in the case of Schmeichel and I can't believe Atkinson would have allowed the kit to be worn if he and his colleagues could not tell the difference between all on the pitch.

How many times this season in particular have we seen teams wearing the same colour shorts? My big bug bear is keepers wearing short sleeves. It's a lottery these days, utterly ridiculous.

Unlucky Wats..you deserved 3 points but a 94th min goal is like playing Man Utd....

Good luck for the rest of the season

You seem to manage it Queenie <laugh>

For the record. They didn't deserve 3 points. They sat back and invited pressure, it's heartbreaking for them to concede in the last minute but hey ho. What comes around <cheers> We were severely punished by two mistakes. That of the linesman and that of De Laet. Watford defended astutely and broke with purpose. It was a classic away performance from them in the first half. But in the second they decided they'd try and stick. If they'd have carried on I wager they'd have got another and we'd have lost considerably. But they didn't and the rest is history. I think they're over the Zola post playoff hangover but they are so naive. The manager needs to have confidence in his players.

Now be off with you. Leave these fine people alone and work out how you're going to stop Bamford and co.

<laugh> Seeing as the Steptoes seem to have taken up residency on here maybe we should give them their own thread.

A 2-0 lead would be enough in Italy to go on and close games down - this doesn't work in England and Sannano has to learn this quickly. To take 2-0 leads at Man City, Forest and Leicester in successive away matches implies that something is working - but what do you say to a team leading at half time ? Go out and do the same thing in the second half ! No manager at any level should take off an attacking player and replace him with a defender - it is like an open announcement of intent, sending out the same message to defender and attacker alike. Allowing teams like Man City, Forest or yourselves to come at you for 45 mins. is inviting disaster.

This is the THIRD time that Sannino has taken Forestieri off and replaced him with a defensive player. It simply does not work!!! He is our outlet when we are under pressure and forced back into our box. He so often chases the ball and slows the attack down. We cannot simply keep parking the bus and hoping the opposition wont find a way through. If we go 2-0 then why change what we are doing?? Its clearly working!! The next goal is always critical, get to 3-0 and the game is nearly done, 2-1 and the opposition have a new lease of life.
