I remember reading a book by a hurler and Gaelic footballer from Cork who relayed a story of the regime under the Gaelic football manager Larry Tompkins. Larry was a great player and had played in the 1989 All Ireland winning team and captained the 1990 All Ireland winning team. The latter being a part of a unique double where Cork won both championships. I still have the jersey..... It doesn't fit but i still have it. I treasure it really, along with a photo of me with the trophy as a wee man..... Anyway, Larry went on to become manager of the team and his time wasn't that successful really, but he did have the team fit. This player wanted to relay the absurdity of the championship at that time. It was **** or bust. Lose and you're out. The year was over.....so the story goes that an English couple were holidaying in west Cork and seen these men busting their guts running up and down sand dunes, puking their holes up in the middle of January. The English fella sidles over when the lads were bent double between runs. "You some sort of football team" "Yeah" " you're really putting the effort in, when is the big match" "......June". ......so when is our next big match? I'm thinking July. Everything between now and then is marking time. These records don't mean **** to me tbh. I just want to see the team playing well in a rarified atmosphere. If I was pissed off last week, I'm more pissed off now.
Was absolutely raging today. No ****ing excuse for lack of effort!! how many times did we stand and watch an Aberdeen player win a header? Can't stand seeing tic players doing that.
The thing is, we are privileged to watch a a Celtic team with the capability to win every domestic game they play in. Maybe that makes us a little spoiled..... But like you say, a Celtic team with no arsehole wouldn't be tolerated if we had a ****e team either.
There were definitely a few today who looked as if they would rather be doing anything other than tackling or running. can't remember being so pissed off at a game in a long time...unacceptable!!
We played poorly no doubt but I felt Commons was very out of sorts and he is usually key for us. When he does not play no one seems to be able to step up. The least said about some of the decisions we never got, the better. Pawlett should have been off the park before he scored and I think there were good calls for a hand ball at both Aberdeen goals. That being said we should still have been good enough to win.
Always cheated, never defeated. It's the Celtic way. Geez peace ol' yin. Yeez got beat fair and square.
Given that it has now been firmly established that we were cheated. Most notably by your former club for a decade, I think it perhaps wise that you hold your own counsel on matters of fairness.
Cheated? Who says we were cheated in the game? No one that I have read on here and certainly not me, so if you say i'm suggesting that we were cheated please feel free to point it out where I said it. Fans, players and managers all over the world all complain every week about decisions they never got, so are those all allegations of cheating too? That doesn't make any sense at all. Besides, you are quote mining and ignoring what I said yesterday, namely:
"quoite mining" I'll have to remember that one.... Ah ken fine whit yae meant. Stoap greetn' and take it like a man.
Nope. Your old club cheated. It is a matter of record. You can try and insult me if you like. You can even pretend I'm wrong if you like..... But I'm not.
says the man who was bleating about the possibility of meeting Celtic at Celtic park in the final. I think if you look at the thread every comment on there states that Aberdeen deserved the win. rangers lose, rocket disappears, celtic lose rocket makes an appearance on the celtic board. your patter is piss poor
No Rocket, you are putting (or trying to) put words in my mouth so as I said, feel free to show me where I said (or implied) that we were cheated I'll help you out, here's someone implying that someone was cheating: "Call me an old cynic but I didn’t fancy our chances of getting the League Cup final,” said McCoist. “I did say to our chief executive Graham Wallace that, if we were allowed to bet, to get a few quid on the final not being at Ibrox. Neil Doncastler, or indeed whoever is running the SPFL, made the decision. That’s something they’ll have to live with.” Can you guess who it was?
If result go our way , I was thinking winning the league the weekend mar 15/ 16 away at Kilmarnock , I see they've moved the game to the Friday night , could be interesting !!
