I'll take that as a Yes. Celtic boys club was not part of Celtic FC. Do you (or anyone here) think Jock Stein KNEW boys were being abused at CBC?
Yes, I firmly believe that Jock Stein knew. He knew everything that went on at the club. He was a very clever man. Why did he kick Torbett out the door? Can you answer that for me please.
we are talking about events over 30 years ago, I certainly did not know what a *****phile was back then because the word was not in common usage, when I was a lad anyone who was suspected of being a bit dodgy would have been called simply a "****" or a "bender", because back then his type were simply seen as twisted, because people's knowleedge was not as full as it is nowadays. I think Jock "Suspected Torbett was a **** but I doubt he KNEW. If he KNEW then why would he let his own son George, join CBC? As I asked earlier, would you let your son attend if you KNEW the guy running it was a **** or a bender or a *****phile?
Of Course Big Jock knew,or at least had his suspicions. Same for the directors. HOWEVER !! This problem was not confined to Celtic or indeed the Catholic church. Sad to say but in Britain in the 1950's and 1960's many institutions turned a blind eye to the problem of child abuse.It was a taboo subject best left to wither on the vine,especially if the accused happened to be a person of social standing. Who was going to believe a wee scheme boy ( or girl) when they complained about these scum but more importantly who was going to report it to the authorities. We see report after report these days of kids being molested during this era and it would be foolish to say nobody knew it was going on. They just turned a ****ing blind eye and hoped it would go away. NOW LETS ****ING MOVE ON !!
