http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-26107011 Read this earlier. Am I the only one that doesn't find any female comics remotely funny?
the one I can't stand above all others is Jo Brand. I can't change channels fast enough if I see her on tv.
I find miranda incredible used to like French and Saunders ...Jo Brand (the sea monster) incredible...but can understand why no man would ever like her.,....she is viscous But boys...you must have GOT "Ab Fab"
That's the worst of the lot. They're making a mockery of football by having them commentating on or analyzing games. They haven't a clue what they're banging on about and they're only chucked in there to save Sky Sports News etc from being labelled sexist. RE women comedians. Hitchens reckons its an evolutionary thing. They don't know how to be funny because traditionally they never had to be funny. After yesterday's vigilante thread, we have a veering into misogyny one. Arabella Weir Caroline Aherne Jo Brand is very funny but some men don't like being laughed at by a woman. Swords, I think the question is whether men find women comedians funny rather than whether there are funny women around. And even Hitchens isn't right all of the time.
Fu*k I wrote that post and just seen Betty has posted right above it! I forgot all about her! I'm diving out of this thread before I get caned
Catherine Tate and Caroline Ahern are very funny, Victoria wood and Julie Walters can be very good too. French and Saunders are deeply unfunny (to quote jimmy Carr: I've never laughed at anything Lenny Henry's been in) Karen Taylor I liked to but that sitcom with the Irish comedian is execrable.
No sign of Betty so I can come back in Stan, that statement of yours doesn't make sense my man. If women comedians aren't funny, then doesn't that mean by implication that women in general aren't funny? I mean, if there are funny women around, wouldn't that be the profession you'd be most likely to find them in? For sure. But he is here! BTW, I never knew there was a word for a female comedian until I read this thread
Do not worry Swords Im here lurking.....people aren't funny because of their gender...it is through your relationship to their humour....I find Chubby Brown, and Bernard Manning deeply offensive...but find Jo Brands observation all humour painfully funny. Each to our own....
Jo Brand's not bad to be fair. I know I'll be slated for this but I have to admit, I have found Chubby Brown funny on occasion. He's very racist and all the rest but I did laugh a lot one Christmas he was on many years ago. Maybe it was one too many hot ports but there you go. Manning could be funny too sometimes. I do think in general we can take ourselves a tad too seriously at times. Comedians who push it to the edge I tend to find humorous. Who's your favourite Betts? I'll go for Billy Connolly. He tells a great story.
