I did like the goal
Yids we are and Yids we will always be. p.s.Have you done your homework?I'll tell your dad if you haven't!
Well, not a very convincing performance, but it was a must win match and we won so can't complain too much I guess. I will anyway though The difference in the end seemed to be that we had a striker and they didn't. That and some strange substitutions by Martinez. Walker and Adebayor were our best players for me. If only Walker could have put in some better quality crosses it might have been more comfortable, but he was a consistent threat and did ok-ish at the other end too against Baines. And the quick thinking with the free kick that led to the goal was excellent. Rose also did better than I expected against Coleman on the other side. The rest of our attack was worryingly anonymous, especially Eriksen again. I hope he's not repeating under Sherwood what happened with AVB, a couple of brilliant performances to start with and then very little afterwards. Lennon also has not looked himself the last few games, if he is carrying a niggle as some here are suggesting then maybe it's time to rest him now with Townsend back. Dembele gave his standard performance, great surging runs with zero end product. And I know I keep going on about this by WHY THE f**k CAN'T WE START QUICKER?!? If Liverpool hadn't bothered to get going until after 20 minutes yesterday that game would have been 1-1 instead of 5-1. Surely this isn't rocket science? Remember about a year ago when we were always shipping goals in the last 10 minutes and AVB fixed it very quickly by changing the training routine to require more concentration at the end of the session? Well I suggest starting off every training session from now on with a solid boot up the arse. Anyways, onwards to midweek. Newcastle next, who are going through a very bad patch atm, and we could do with a win there because I don't see Liverpool dropping points against Fulham (mind you, I thought the same about ManU today... thank you Agent Holtby and Sandra!).
Why don't we start quicker? Because Sherwood's getting the team selection wrong and then correcting it during the game. He then makes the same mistakes with his next starting XI, which I can't understand.
Yet another lucky win for Sherwoodie. But for a piece of individual magic from Ade we would have dropped 3 points. That said, Everton has, for a very long time, now, been a bogey team for us, so I'll take anything going.
Really? I didn't have any complaints about the starting XI today and the first change he made was Townsend for Erikson after about an hour. Not his fault Erikson played ****e today. Or is it?
Yet it's due to Sherwoods management that Adebayor is back performing I remember under Redknapp we would start games at times slowly but Arry would correct it at half time and it takes time before the team fully adapts. Liverpool fans last season and early this season where slating Rodgers tactics and that the team where playing poorly. So I'm not jumping the gun yet and condemning Sherwood to the hopeless category as even with the issues, he gets enough out of the team to pick up points.
That's what it reminds me of. We used to make jokes about Harry needing to shout at them before the match instead of waiting until half-time... that's exactly how I feel now.
That's great, but what if (some would say "when") Ade stops performing? Sorry, but I expect our manager to have a better tactic than "put Ade up front." But you're right, that does appear to be what he's going with. God help us!
Redknapp and Sherwood like teams that play open so that can result in the opposition taking control early. Rodgers Liverpool team and Wengers Arsenal team of Henry etc would attack teams early as they believe finish the game within the first 20 minutes. That's great if you have the players but we're not quite there yet. Plus Rodgers has years of experience from coaching this high pressing game, going back to Swansea. Sherwood or Sherwoodie, doesn't have the same beliefs so I'm not expecting him to have us playing that way, although I agree it's a devastating and effective way to play.
"That's great if you have the players but we're not quite there yet." We had that up to end of the 2012 season. The first 30 min blitzkrieg at WHL was a hallmark of that season (HT at 2-0 up) . As was going back to 2-1 and gut-churning anxiety for mins 60 to 80 odd.
Well if he gets the same end result as Harry I guess I'll take that It's sooo annoying though, it'd be really nice just once in a while to sit back and enjoy the last hour or so of a Spurs match from a winning position.
I think it is. He played him out of position in a system that didn't suit him. Hardly a surprise that he didn't perform under those circumstances.
