I hope you're not being serious. 24/24 would get us 38 at season end. But our form dipped the last 10 or so matches. So that is real relegation form.

Relegation form is when your playing average teams , without injuries , and your losing . That is so far from where we have been for the last few months playing top teams infested with injury .

    I am very serious.

Our last 11 we picked up 9 points, so we dropped 2 points based on our season average at the time of his sacking, as pointed out in another post of mine, that run of games was horrid, only good home games were against Hull and Fulham, the rest were Newcastle (doing well) Man City, Spurs, Everton

Away games at Villa, Norwich, Man City, Man Utd

Why do we think we should have got more from that run? There were a few discussions on here how that run was going to be difficult, so why after the run, that we did find it difficult, is it really as bad as people are making out?

We took 36 points from the last 38 matches. That's equivalent to a whole season, so includes all clubs (more or less). What makes you think that would suddenly improve? We've been bad for a year under Laudrup, so I saw no reason to suddenly improve. We'll never know though because he's now gone.

You're whole tone lately is that you're very upset with the board for sacking him. Apologies if I have misinterpreted that.

I haven't read any posts using this result to snipe at ML, although I may have missed those. I've seen plenty of posts justifying his sacking though, which is a different thing altogether. You don't need to be on a crusade to uphold ML's honour, everyone appreciates what he achieved for us.

Come on, you're better than that.

You can not include games from last season. As results from last season have no bearing on this seasons final standings, so play fair.

Why not? That's when things started to go wrong. That's what I mean though. It's easy to pick and choose certain sets of results and make excuses just to fit your hypothesis.

Here's one for you. Monk has a 100% record as manager, with no goals conceded. How many managers can match that?

I am annoyed at hoe the board went about it, but I am not using yesterdays game to snipe at them, I have used some past incidents to try and get my point across that the board are not infallible though, such as the whole Ki recall date.

I disagree, there have been posts saying we would not have done this had ML been in charge, and what not, that for me is having a snipe at ML. Or better put, justifying the decision.

I apologise, you are right, I am just annoyed at how some fans have turned this whole sacking malarkey into a positive cos of 1 result, and how they are making out that we have completely changed in a matter of 4 days thanks to that sacking. As I have never agreed with the sacking, more so at how it was handled. And people using 1 result to justify that sacking is laughable in my eyes.

These same fans will be calling for monks head, if we were to go and lose the next 5.

Not when we are talking about relegation form, as results last season have no bearing in any shape nor form on whether we get relegated or not this season.

Some clearly cannot get their heads past Michael Laudrup the player? What we had was Laudrup the manager, two different animals altogether, and if he wouldn't conform to our way of doing things and learn his trade then tough, he had to go, as it was always going to be our way or the highway, he is definitely flawed in many ways, and while his first season saw some great accomplishments, he just doesn't have the staying power as a manager to finish a project, that's been his Achilles heel with all the clubs he has been with, and I'm very happy our board acted to sack him, it could have been done in a more dignified manner, but at the end of the day it was the right decision, and I have no doubts on that score!...............<ok>

I don't agree. I take the term 'relegation form' as meaning form that would get you relegated if you played a whole season like this. So if Chelsea were top of the table and safe from relegation and then lost 6 in a row it would be relegation form. That's why it's called relegation FORM. The FORM they are currently in is the FORM of teams that get relegated.

And that's even true if Monk as manager doesn't work out. Laudrup had to go. Whether Monk is good enough is a separate issue. That's just for those that don't seem to be able to separate the issue. I'm thinking Swanselona.

4 wins in our last 7 games is all thats important as players come back from injury. 9 th place and a league cup victory securing a spot in Europa is all thats important from last season, not the natural let down after staying up was achieved and the cup won .Funny how some only look at the last few games last season and bypass the great things that happened to push there agenda

I tend to agree with both arguements here. (talk about sitting on the fence). Yes i think over the last 11 games it has been relegation form, but, in those results there have been some excellent performances with out us getting what we deserved in terms of results. Also during those 11 games we have had up to 6 first choice players out at any one time. I defy any premier League side to be able to deal with that over an extended period. (Man U have been bleating at having 2 players out).

So over the last 11 games i think we have performed ok with out possibly getting any luck in terms of results.

However, Where i was starting to get concerned was the lack of passion/motivation our players were showing. That has to come from the manager and I wonder whether he was able to inspire them anymore. That coupled with the fact the players new he would not be here at the end of the season, for me, started to show a malaise around the playing and coaching squad.

I think we needed a change, I dont think the coaching will cahnge, But someone who can put a bit of fire in the players bellys and a bit of passion in the badge and that did seem to happen yesterday.

The other thing I did notice yesterday was that we played with a lot more width yesterday than we have done recently and that seemed to work for us.

I dont think that Gary Monk is a man for the long term job. But he is what we have and we should all be 100% behind him for the time he is in charge. It seems the players are. Just look at where Ash ran when we scored.

I have put this on 2 threads wasnt sure which one it should be on really.

I'm not pushing any agenda. I agree that we did very well last season. I think most that thought Laudrup should go think the same. The issue for me is that after the cup win, our from got really bad and has never recovered, apart from a few good wins here and there. I just don't think Laudrup is good enough. It's that simple. No agenda. Whether I'm right or wrong is irrelevant because he's gone. Even if I'm totally wrong, he's still not coming back, so get over it. You've made your point Breezy, so no need to go on about it in multiple threads.
