Well because Ensil thought a sly little dig at Chelsea, by calling them 'Fulham's 2nd club' would negate his lack of an argument. So I thought it prudent to remind him that Spurs are also a '2nd' Hotspur club.
I doubt that can ever be conclusively proven though, Piskie. Has anyone really got a good idea about the exact date that a schoolboy's cricket club was formed, roughly 130 years ago? I doubt it. There is no doubt about Chelsea's formation or their odd name, though.
Not about feeling better, it's about not bringing into the debate something I know little about. If you think everything you read in the papers is true or that everyone sitting on the Spurs board is squeeky clean then more fool you. Fact is, if he'd have choosen you, there would have been no complaints. Spuds are unbearable at the best of times, imagine you were winning stuff as well....
Give it a rest. Trying to compare your average businessman with a stone cold crook like Abramovich is ridiculous. The stuff that he's linked to is unbelievable, but I'm sure that you haven't looked into it at all. You're probably better off not knowing. As someone once said, the current Fit and Proper Persons Test is a joke. As it stands, Nelson Mandela would fail, as he has a criminal record, whereas Robert Mugabe would pass. Who the **** calls us Spuds, anyway? I've only ever seen that insult on forums, but I guess it's better than the normal racist crap that your lot come out with. Disgusting bunch of glory-hunters, preceded by an old bunch of thugs, frankly.
Chelsea are Chelsea regardless of our postcode. As you will still be Totenham if you move to Stratford. Will it make you any less of a club? And on what basis will he win nothing. We've won a trophy 5 out of the last 7 years. If he came on a 5 year deal, law of averages would suggest he'd win something.
Back with the glory hunter tag are we. I've already dismissed that nonsense about 3 times in this thread alone. Glory hunters follow success, hence why you lot have so few. One day it'll be your turn. Spuds, Citeh, Chavski its all over this place. Don't be so precious. The fit and proper test is a joke, but is it the fans fault? Can we really decide who is in charge?? These are our glory years and we're going to enjoy it whilst it lasts, if it annoys a few 'spuds', all the better.
Chelsea had some awful attendances prior to Harding's investment in the mid 90s and you've failed to sell your season tickets after 'disastrously' coming 2nd. Glory hunters is extremely appropriate. I've heard people call City 'Citeh' and Chelsea 'Chavski', but never Spurs 'Spuds'. I'm not being precious, as you've claimed, just wondering where the hell it comes from. I've not heard one person actually say it. I've never said that you won't enjoy your team winning on the back of the riches of someone who has profited massively from the current corruption in Russia. I'm sure that it doesn't bother you at all that the money you're spending has come from such a kind and benevolent man and that nobody has suffered or died so that you can win some trophies. Why should it?
How many players have left chelsea in a flash in the last few years? What's it like being United's feeder club??? Can't afford him, really. Didn't we smash the british transfer record in January?
City are now the big money team in the league. You may have spent massively on Torres ( ), but do you honestly think that you can outbid them in a head-to-head contest?
Well as long as you can find an excuse to tarnish our success, you cling to it. I'll just enyoy the ride and letter better informed people deal with the politics. And Chelsea hold one of the highest average attendances in the football league which includes pre 90's when we won very little. Yes we have Glory Hunters, cant stand them but we have a loyal fan base too, of which many have been priced out of going every week. We'll still have higher attendances then you next year...again.
Both happened to be your best player at the time. Feeder club. Again you can't stick to point. You said we couldn't afford Modric, our signing of Torres proved we can still spend big. How is Torres' performances relevant to buying Modric? Keep banging the no manager drum, he will be in place within a fortnight and signings will happen in the meantime, guaranteed.
Yep, you just stick your head in the sand and pretend that your money comes from the football fairy. There there, it's all better now. Your attendances in the late 70s, 80s and early 90s were awful. 6,006 v Orient in 80/81. 7,283 v Coventry in 94 for a Premier League game. Dire. Your attendances are higher than ours because of your higher capacity. A hard concept for you to grasp, I'm sure. Have City tabled a bid for Modric? For £22m, I'm not sure that Chelsea have, to be honest!
So you're a chelsea member are you. Thats the only way of getting one. Wanted to watch some football from champions for a change last year did you. Where did you sit, Mathew Harding, East Stand??
So has city bid for Modric or not? I can't see how we are going to get outbid if they aren't even bidding but please let me know. Over to you..
Have Chelsea had a bid accepted? No? Then it's irrelevant whether you're going to be outbid or not at the moment then, isn't it? £22m is an insult, frankly. When you have teams paying £20m for players like Henderson, £35m for Carroll or £50m for Torres, then you could at least come up with a serious bid. A classless attempt to turn the player's head, by a managerless team.
