    simply put... not good enough today

  2. Not good enough but we'd done enough in the rest of the block to allow a slip up. Isn't that the point of these blocks?

    I am going to make a prediction based on maths.

    this is going to be flawed by virtue of form being dependant on the opposition played against however..

    city form last 12 games 34 points = 2.833 points 15x2.833 + 53 = 95 points

    Arsenal form: 29 points = 2.416 points 15x2.416 + 52 = 88 points

    chelsea form: same 29 points 14x2.416 + 50 = 83 points (assume loss to city)

    Liverpool form = 16 + 7 = 23/12 = 1.916x14 + 47 = 73 points

    everton form: = 24/12 = 2 14x2 =28+45 = 73 points

    spurs = same as everton = 14x2 +44 = 72 points

    utd = 19/12 = 1.583 14x1.583 + 40 = 62 points

    LFC would want to wake the f up and realise throwing easy available points away at this point of a season this close is tantamount to sinful. We still have to play the "big 4" in city, chelsea, arsenal and utd. that leaves 10 games otherwise and we just basically tossed two points in the bin.

    that makes our win v everton pointless. had we drew at home v everton and won 1-0 here we'd get the same points but the + 8 GD we generated on everton will be huge at the end.

    City to win this, LFc to crawl towards 4th. utd to be also rans. if LFc finish 5th to everton they should be ashamed frankly

    Of course this is all moot seeing most of that everton form is predicated on lukaku and right now they have injuries but equally we could say that utd form is based on nothing more than beating the lower half much like lefc last year.. we got 7th last year so why chould utd get any more.

    Anyway.... a block of 4 finishes with 8 points not 10 two POOR performances sandwiching a fine one. we are far too incnosistent and worryingly suarez looks tired

    Yup, but in the previous block we only took 6 points, so needed to get more than the 8 needed to give us that cushion again. Especially as Arsenal at home and Southampton away could be tricky ones.

    all i can say is good start.

    fulham and swansea to come are just absolute must wins. both are rudderless or should be and frankly we need those 6 points and i'm eager to see suarez get a goal

    Southampton away to complete the set are interesting. their form is coming back but they don't quite seem right still

  8. Fulham and Swansea are more concerning than Arsenal. There is no shame in losing or drawing to Arsenal whereas we are expected to beat those two. Plus, although not as bad as previous years, we still have a tendency to drop points where we shouldn't; aka WBA.

    are all 3 points. fulham is a must win. they are under so much pressure. swansea at home is a fantastic chance to take on a side that we should beat. they should be buoyed a bit but i fancy they are kind of not really pushing as hard as they could have and i just feel they might come to anfield not looking to really win..

  10. Swansea are a side that suits us too as they play football. Everton and Arsenal both play keep ball, we've destroyed both :)

    The way the rest of this season appears to be panning-out, every game is now a Must Win. However, whereas in past seasons even the idea of that situation would have been just too daunting, that idea now appears attractive. I think that such a target suits us as it means that we can go and attack rathr than trying to defend what we have.

    The next 4 games are vitally important.. If you look at our last 6 fixtures there are no easy games in there, we don't have any "bankers" at home. Need to take full advantage and give ourselves a gap.

    I agree. we need that little gap and i'm kind of hopeful that todays game will be a draw starting it.

    HOWEVER...

    As I said above, I think the block system has now lost its usefulness. From now on it has to be strictly a game by game basis.

    nah it still holds true. the top sides will take 10 points out of 12 and the likes of everton will take 7 or 8 max. if we go game by game some lad will lose his head if we even draw a game.

    it keeps gerrez sane ;)

    No it doesn't. It does not really help any more. IF we do not win at Fulham, all bets are off for the rest of the season - let alone the next 3 matches. The only way that the mates can be coped with is via full concentration on the next one.

    Well somehow I doubt that the players are even aware of mito's block system, never mind subscribe to it, so I imagine they will attempt a game by game approach.

    None of them have managed that average so far this season.
