lol that's dumb. If Laudrup had stayed on and you'd won that game, he would had been the best thing since sliced bread. And you have absolutely no way of knowing.
Dai, one game doesn't make you right. Remember Laudrups first game away at QPR ? I hope Monk is the right man, but a great derby win doesn't count for anything other than 3 points in the table. We need to put distance between us and the relegation places now. If Stoke beat us 3 - 0 on Wednesday we'll have "Monk is not the man" posts everywhere. It's just one game remember. One wonderful, glorious game.
His opinion is relevant to lots of people on this board, so stop speaking as if you're speaking for everyone, because you're not. His opinions might be irrelevant to your small gang, but who cares. Dai creates some great debate, the only problem being that those that don't agree with him just respond with personal attacks. If they can't win the debate they just attack Dai and anyone else they don't agree with. Everyone can see that. If you want to make personal attacks, then I think that says a lot about what type of person you are.
It would have been 2 wins out of 12 and still not good enough. You're right that we'll never know, but it doesn't matter. What matters now is how Monk does in the job. Good start but he still has to prove himself. But even winning 3-0 isn't a good enough of a start for some people on here. At least give the man a chance.
Goes without saying that Stoke is a massive game, we need a point at least from this one and well done Dai
Could you not see the intention & intensity of every single player from the very start to the very end!! That was no coincidence. They hunted in packs when they lost the ball too. The difference was startling to say the least & for a full 90 minutes too. Yeh it was one game & the derby too, but you could see the team was united. There's not been many matches in Michael's reign when there was such high intensity for the whole match... Up the Jacks...
Some people say this was a Derby game, so of course they'd be motivated whoever was in charge. But Laudrup didn't seem able to motivate them for the away match with Cardiff. This win is down to Monk. Only one match, but a great start.
Laudrup: 1 win from last 11. Monk: 1 win from last 1. Even if we only win one of the next 10, Monk will still have won twice as many as Laudrup.
But then that is a narrow minded view when in our last 11 we played, we actually won 2 plus not to mention the fact this was our fixture list during that time. West Ham (a) Fulham (h) Spurs (h) Man Utd (a) Man City (h) Villa (a) Chelsea (a) Everton (h) Norwich (a) Hull (h) Newcastle (h) Before the season I would have had us down to get 13 points maybe from that run of games, we actually got 9 - so was not as bad as it really seemed. As the draw to Villa was unlucky for us as we were all over them.
Did you see how up for it we were agianst Man City on Jan 1st. Sorry but one game does not make our team bad, we had a huge off day against Cardiff at their place, as many people mentioned at the time too.
I couldn't agree more with this. Well said, plastic, and I speak as one who has been in the firing line, receiving "personal attacks" for holding different opinions than the "small gang" you refer to.
Disagree here swans. We've been clueless and passionless etc plenty of times this season, especially against the teams we should have been expecting to pick up points against.
Your right, we were & to be honest, I thought we were so unlucky that day. But under Michael we were generally up for the big teams. Just don't think we were always the same against our 'direct opponents', as he always described them. Games when we needed to roll our sleeves up & have a scrap!! The boys were up for a scrap last night...
I have been told by Dai on several occasions that my opinion is irrelevant. Where were you, Libertarian or Valley Graduate then? Seems your building up a gang yourselves. Be consistent or stand accused of hypocricy of the highest order.
