How did the lad play when he came on? never saw the match through being at work and couldn't even get a link to it. Not exactly the right situation to play or judge him in but how did he cope?
bloody big lad and looked as though he will do a good job ,we shouldnt be losing out to headers with him in the box
All good news lads, it's been a problem position for us to fill in Browns absence and now we've lost him again for another 3 matches, if this lad can step in then great news.
He did nothing wrong. Seemed comfortable on the ball. Slightly worrying that scocco didn't make the bench this week. Gus had been building him up and saying he was key?
Sunderland has a long line of okayers we've rushed back from Injury and they either get injured again or never make an impact. Let him rest
browns out for 4 games so he misses the final why tackle he should of let long go at least we would of had 87 mins to get the goal back with 11 men
It's 2 games, one for today, and the extra for one more red this season. The second was rescinded. Where are people getting 4 games from? Verghini, looked a little nervy, but looked alright to me, could be a good un.
That's a bit of good news at least, might give Vergini a chance to stake a claim for that slot and show us what he can do, O'Shea take note. Maybe we could see a Brown - Vergini pairing?
WES BROWN will serve a two-game ban after the Sunderland centre-half was sent off against Hull City today. Brown earned the third fastest red card in Premier League history after he was dismissed in the fourth minute of this afternoon’s encounter against the Tigers. The 34-year-old will earn a one-match ban for a professional foul and an extra game after he was sent off earlier in the season against Norwich City. Brown’s dismissal at Stoke will not count towards his suspension after it was rescinded. The ban will rule Brown out of Wednesday’s trip to Manchester City along with next Saturday’s visit of Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...-for-sent-off-sunderland-star-brown-1-6427804
To be fair you couldn't have picked two better matches for him to miss ...... would've been rested for the cup match anyway
I'm not too concerned about this now, would have liked him in the team for Southampton mind but not too fussed about the City match. We're not expected to get anything from that anyway so as you say, rest him (enforced now) and get him fit for Wembley. Who knows? Vergini might keep him out yet.
After yesterday's result I thinborne Southamptonresult is less significant. Had we won then it'd have been something to look forward to. Now I think we have to look at the league and league cup as our priorities. Just my opinion like!!
Agree 100% mate ........... being on 27 points with the likes of Fulham, Cardiff & West Brom scrambling to reach the bottom we would've had a chance. I now believe Poyet will use the tie as a practice match for the new lads.
Hear what you're saying mate and quite a few on here said exactly the same about the League Cup run, look where we are now. I still firmly believe that we will be safe, yesterday was an unfortunate one off and once we went down to ten men it was always an uphill battle. I never saw the match so can't really comment, I did see the SAFSEE highlights this morning and with 11 men I reckon the result would have been different. They didn't look like they blew us away and we had 10 men. The Cup match isn't a priority, I agree, but a win is a massive confidence booster even though it can be a distraction from our main goal which is to remain in the EPL.
