I agree with Merry, the same old arguments about Messi not being able to beat teams like Stoke even though he has done it against much higher quality teams are really boring and unimaginative.

well pardon me for not be the perfect person who never spouted a cliche, if I try very hard I'm sure by the end of day I will be as enriched as your good self.

If someone posts something andit doesn't live up to your high standards simply ignore it, and respond to something that is.

Sorry didn't mean that to be insulting. Just find the whole 'Messi is in a weaker league so he isn't that great' argument annoying.

I only responded to it because I wanted to show my disagreement with the logic of the question and in the hope that you won't bring it up again! Tbh, I think you're a good poster and have no problem with you but maybe you aren't aware of how often that question is asked. But it is A LOT!!!!

On the cliche thing, why would you want to use cliches or hypothetical questions anyway? Surely it's better to have your own views and again, you usually do voice your own opionions tbf. But when I hear analysts use cliches during football, I automatically think "This guy's an idiot." It's just an automatic reaction. The guy may not be an idiot but it just shows a lack of thought and has me thinking "Why even bother saying it. It's not adding anything to the discussion." I think the Messi - Ronaldo thing tends to bring out the worst in people for cliches, probably because it's been done so often.

it was a response to Merry.

Anyway I have never said that Messi plays in a weaker league, nor questioned his undoubted skill as he is by far the best player in world at thsi present time & motion, I merely mooted HOW he would perform against less technically able teams, who would resort to throwing the kitchen table at him, and Blighty's wonderful weather.

Other posters may or may not of approached this topic a million times before, - I couldn't give a monkeys! mine was more of a tongue in cheek comment and not the Spanish Inquisition!

    (pun intended:))

Now I promise to be a good lil' poster and never mention the nice South American Maestro & The Premier League in the same sentence ever , ever again!
