...whoever it was behind the scenes at West Brom who thought selling Shane Long would be a good idea, is an absolute idiot. But also, a legend. Thanks, whoever you are!
I honestly didn't rate him as highly as Bruce. Thought he'd be a good get for his pace, but saw Jelavic as the main man. That has been completely flipped on its head the last few games! His first touch is generally brilliant, and he looks dangerous every time he has the ball. Also a champion bloke. Got a picture with him after the game as he was rushing on the bus, I thanked him by explaining I flew back to Sydney tomorrow. He turned, shook my hand, looked me in the eye and smiled, saying it was a pleasure to meet me. My opinion of the bloke improved drastically from that simple moment.
Longs pace is dangerous and Jelavic has an awsome first touch shot. Jelavic has hit the post 3 or 4 times I think.
It's a pity both Long & Jelavic are cup tied. We'd have such a good team with them involved. What a chance of silverware.
Next season. I think this season would be too early anyway. Europe would seriously dent our survival chances next season.* I think give it another year to settle and then progress, like Swansea. *The belief that we have been banned from Europe seems to be overstated.
I think the whole cuptied ting should go out the window when your previous club is eliminated. Well that's my opinion.
I think he's having a bit of a run for his new club. He's a good player but, having seen him play numerous times, I've never really seen him perform at the level he has done the last 2 games. It's very early doors, and he's a huge price tag to live up to yet. Still not convinced he's worth near to what we paid, same for Eeyore, but I thought of it from a different angle earlier. Neither is a £7m player, but together they're a £14m partnership, they compliment each other perfectly, they go together like hoo hoo and cha cha. Harsh on Sagbo though, I think he'd look equally good alongside Long and we could have saved ourselves £7m. He was excellent for the first half of the season.
I suspect there are other reasons for it, like if Chelsea didn't make it out of the Group Stage, them selling Mata to United could be seen as trying to benefit English clubs over other European clubs.
I think they'd have been silly to reject the amount offered but he's done well for you so neither party can complain. Agree entirely.
If they go down due to a lack of goals from forwards while Long scores for us consistently they'll lose a lot more money than they would have by keeping him and staying up. Of course other teams are struggling to score so they may be ok but hey.
We can't get in Europe anyway. because of the financial fair play bollocks they're bringing in. I don't care about Europe. Just seeing a city captain lift a proper cup at Wembley is a dream. That or an England captain, but there's more chance of city winning something
Hm ok I stand corrected then and agree once the original club is knocked out a player should be able to play for their new club.
how's Longs significant other? I mean has she taken to ranting on Twatter about what a **** place East Yorkshire is?
