What should he do regarding Whitts? Apply his best player management techniques or adopt the ruthless approach and ditch him?

Concensus seems to be that the bench is probably too good for him given his recent performances, and there are others available now within the squad to make Ole's decision easy. If Ole does start him today, and I wouldn't mind betting he will, he could be shaken by being dragged off in the first half against Norwich and play a blinder - we all know he's capable.

On the other hand, other players in the squad trying to get a game might think just how bad have you got to be to be dropped, and get pissed off themselves at not getting a chance. Benching a player low on confidence to give them a break sometimes works, but Whitts seems to be a player who needs the arm around the shoulder, rather than the kick up the arse.

No sentiment in this game, but it's a tough one for Ole. It shouldn't rule out some serious thought about it.

Send him away for a holiday in the sun for 2 weeks (Barry will do) to get his **** together then bring him back into the squad. I think he'll still have some input for us before the end of the season. He wasn't doing well when the MM fiasco was ongoing and hasn't adapted to OGS's change of play. Theoretically, with Jones and Zaha in the side, Whitts' passing should come to the fore. A couple weeks out of the side (pick him in the cup game meybe) won't do anyone any harm.

Yes, can't see him starting today when we have a number of other options. He should be on the bench though and get a start in the cup next week when the opposition won't be quite so strong.

Bench today, cup next week. Let him get his confidence back. He has been below average for a while and easily knocked off the ball. In honesty, although I have been a fan of Whitts, I think his time at City is numbered.

Enough rope to hang himself with perhaps, he certainly knows his fate if he isn't up to it.

That looked like a Dave Jones team. Only much more expensive.

The experiment with an unproven manager seems to have failed.

Out thought and out fought by a manager in his first game.

We still do not look like scoring enough goals to stay up.

Swansea were useless for 80% of that match but we were just shocking same as against Norwich.

Why was our best player Mutch left out.?

    1st half was like 2 conference teams. 2nd a League 1 team v a pub side.

Bring in Pulis in the summer.

Disingenuous as usual , out played out thought , out scored . If we were useless than what scale would you put your selves at .

MOM for cadiff was Bellamy, didn't stop and a couple of inches lower who knows .

Id expect a League 1 side to destroy a pub side.<laugh>

Seriously that was a shocking 1st half by both sides and we just got worse and worse. Fabio shouldnt be anywhere near the pitch.

We are down and need to plan for next season
