Yeah, no. You can't have it both ways. Either Bruce is a genius for getting them their early form, or it's all the players. You can't give Bruce the credit then blame the players when it goes sour.

I agree Sunderland shouldn't have sacked him, and no idea why they're so bitter towards him when he's always had pleasant things to say other than how hurt he was, but there's no one to blame but himself for that form run. From memory his win % was terrible at the end.

Some but the vast majority is with the manager.

We have just had the extreme version of this from both ends with PCD resulting in a player revolt and now with Gus the players cant wait to play want the ball and will run all day. Now Bruce is not a PDC but he did lose the players.

I think it was about 4 wins in his last 30 games.

    Yeah not good enough.

Very telling when that same squad suddenly does better under MON.

Where did I say all the blame must be put on the players? I said they must take SOME of the blame.

Every Sunland thread turns to ****e.

I thought it couldn't get any worse than Leicester last year. But, Leicester are okay now.

That's exactly what they do. The cycle goes as thus: new manager comes in, he's the saviour, old one was ****, new one has a good honeymoon period, new one eventually fails to take them beyond mid-table, fans hate him because they have a right to be in Europe, new manager comes in and he's the next saviour, repeat.

In a year's time you'll hate Poyet, just like all the others. It was only last summer you all thought Di Canio was wonderful with his extra fitness training. I definitely saw Sunderland fans on here bragging about how you were going to outrun teams this season and pick up loads of points in the last 5-10 minutes of games. Then he lost his first few games and suddenly everything changed.

Isn't that what we do with old managers?

You forgot the other one. Because the fans go on and on and on about ex managers, the press ask the ex manager about the old club, so he replies. Fans the use that as an excuse to go on and on and on about ex managers talking about them. <laugh>

I was talking to a Sunderland fan this week (who TBH is a canny lad and usually talks sense), who argued that Sunderland's recent success is down to Di Canio's pre-season fitness regime. Apparently they are now benefiting from that as they are so much more fitter than every other squad!

Baz, I've lived local for 22yrs and much of what you say is correct. But the number of £5, £10 and free schools tickets swilling around flatters to deceive.

As for the seperate argument about the stadium name; yes, it was always explained as the 'coming into the light' thinking, but everyone I know weere always uneasy with the use of the name of an already established stadium.

Still, couldn't care less what it's called, we'll have them three points regardless! <cheers>

    I don't think so?

I think most people agree that of the last 7 managers including Bruce (going back 11 years) only Parkinson and Dowie really did a bad job.

Shame neither game between Sunderland and you couldn't hanve been 11 vs 11.

What happened with Brown's card? Bad tackle? Last man? Goalscoring chance?

Goalscoring chance. Long was through on goal and basically in the box and Brown hacked him down. Red card every day of the week.

Nope. Watch it on MotD. Basically Bardsley (I think?) played a pass that resembled Toure's from last week basically right to Long - it was a brilliant through ball! And Long sped through the game to be one on one with the keeper and Brown slid into him.
