A great win for the boys today, well deserved. And feel very happy for Garry. But those using this result to justify the sacking of ML need to wait and see first, as this result was always going to be a big result, and I personally thought the only difference between ML and Monk's Swansea was the closing down, everything else was the same. And that can be put down to the fact we were home in a huge derby and the crowd were up. Could that have been sorted by adding Monk to the coaching team WITHOUT getting rid of ML, you bet we could have. So think it is still early days. Not to mention of the 3 goals, 5/6 of the goalscorer/assister was ML's men. Also notice that Monks team, bar Emnes was full strength. That makes a huge difference too. Pablo was my man of the match, only on for 45, yes he made a couple of silly mistakes, but he changed the game completely. Much better as an AM than winger it seems, had memories of the West Brom game last season.
Routledge and Dyer my joint MOTM! Honourable mention for Ash, Britton, and Hernandez.......................... New we'd smash the Redtits!................. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Great interview from Monk. Thought the defence played well today. Ash and Chico superb and Rangel deserves a mention. Up against a tricky winger and stuck to his guns.
We need to kick on from here, now the serious work begins, need to get behind Monk like we did today great support from the Jack Army!...........
I disagree. The defence looked more organised, the players attacked with more than one body in the box, the team didn't go all out defence after scoring just a single goal, the team kept attacking after being 3-0 up, the players were smiling even in the first half, set pieces saw a remarkable improvement where not only did we dominate defending against them but also go on and actually scoring from them, crosses were for once actually accurate! and.... Chico had zero interest in play acting! It was completely different in almost every way.
Wouldn't be far off. Like I said earlier, great to see him back where he belongs. Should be first on the teamsheet every game. That's not dissing Canas. Been very pleased with him. What a bargain.
I thought our defence was much more solid, and more organised. Rangel had Zaha in his pocket all game. Ben look much improved.
The defence looking better organised is nothing unexpected, when was the last time we had our full defence available, then when was the last time we had all 4 main defenders + our no1 keeper in the squad. There were many saying we needed Vorm back to give our defence confidence, as Tremmel was not giving us confidence. It was visible over the last few games that Ash didn't have faith in Tremmel, which could be seen in the manner he seemed to be out of position trying to protect him? So I still believe we were no different. And if you think all those changes happened in a matter of 3 days, your very much mistaken, it just so happened that Cardiff came to play, unlike many teams who sit 10 men behind the ball. So we were able to play. It was also the derby, with 20k fans behind them, of course they were smiling, as the atmosphere was lacklustre for some time at home. So I remain confident that very little bar our closing down was different today. Cardiff played into our hands from the word go, and I 100% believe that ML would have got a win after today too.
Very easy win as the lads are playing as they should. That's not bad considering monk has had very little time to change laudrups negative football back to what we are all about...What will we be like after a lot more training that hopefully will get some of the new boys like bony up to standard....
And? Laudrup bought a team but didn't utilise it, that if anything is a shocking indication of what he became. How do you see this as being a victory for Laudrup when an inexperienced manager used Laudrups bought players to their very best potential of a week long new training regime. Think about what you are saying.
Interesting seeing as I heard that Rangel had been suffering from an ankle problem (i think it was an ankle problem??). Also interesting that when we got told Rangel was fit, he was chosen, only to get dropped again, through another niggle. Rangel was always his preferred right back, so find that comment clutching at straws. I take it you are not too clued up in how confidence, or lack of actually affects the outcome of situations, if you did, you would not have made such a silly comment Sunderland parked the bus agianst us, West Ham at home parked the bus, Hull parked the bus or have you already forgot these games already? Other than those, did you see our home fixtures. Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Stoke, Newcastle, Everton, Man City, Spurs So you were saying? Who else was there that would park the bus, thats right, as I have pointed out on other threads, we, SWANSEA CITY, have the easiest run in on paper of any team in the premier league. Yes it was one low point, it was a terrible game, so was the game against West Ham, but how about the win v Valencia, or the draw against Villa, which we outplayed them and could and should have won, or how about outplaying Man City on our place, only to get done by sheer class? Or do you only remember games that suit. The players were able to try thanks to how Cardiff played, same as we tried against Man City, which result apart, was a better game from our lads. Well then, I guess I will be the only one then
To early to get carried away like Dai. Just as MLs first win was all due to Brendan, then this must be all ML In all seriousness 3 days with the team wouldn't normally make such a difference, but today may be evidence of a split camp under ML. You only had to see Ash's reaction with Monk after the first goal to see that Ash is 110% behind Monk. If they can maintain this passion and focus we will be fine. As the saying goes, one swallow doesn't make a summer, but the signs are promising. I still remain grateful that ML was with us for a short while. Like those before he added value to our team and brought our first major trophy...let's not forget that. It is however potentially a new start and opportunity to take a few more steps up the ladder. Oh, and bye bye Cardiff. May be while before we meet again.
