Looking at the league cup I would have preferred an away fixture rather than having a mere 5/6,000 at the KC for a match with no real appeal. With that in mind I would have made it so all the seeded teams got away draws, the early rounds are much more important to the league 2/1 clubs than us and it would create more of an atmosphere at matches.
And how often do fans of Macclesfield etc. get to come to magnificent stadiums like the KC? Not very often. The Allams should reduce the ticket prices to like £5 and let kids in for free and that would bump up the attendance no doubt.
For a second rate game, I'm pretty sure ticket prices will be significantly reduced. If they're standard match day prices nobody will turn up. In fairness, I have no plans to go to the game. A 1st Round entrance for a fiver might tempt me though
The problem is that Macclesfield are due half the gate and so have to agree on ticket prices. I'm sure they rather take half of 6,000 tickets at £25 apiece than 15,000 at a fiver.
I'm tempted to go to this one, watching us play Macclesfield will bring back memories from the early days of my city supporting life. Shows how far we've come in 10 years when we're a big cup day out for a team we were in the same league with.
I'll definitely go but then I haven't missed a competitive home match for nearly 11 years. I'm a real supporter though, not some glory supporter who just picks and chooses
Haha! Show how far we have come? I'm not saying we haven't made progress but don't expect us to turn them over we will be lucky to get a win.
We'd be expected to beat them, be it 1-0 or 6-0. Won't be an easy game but i'd expect us to win, i wouldn't say we'd be 'lucky' to get a win at all.
To be fair it was a crap home attendance when the likes of Everton turned up at the kc. If it wasn't for the 3k from the Toffees it would have been dire.
Assuming your talking about the cup game, I thought it was dire anyway. Hard to believe one year we'd jump at the chance to see Hull City vs Everton, the next year no-one could be arsed to show up.
I personally believe we are actually a "bigger" club than what we used to be. It was always little old Hull but with being in the PL the expecations will always be more now. It doesn't matter if you've been following City for 5 or 50 years that's the way it is.
In previous years we'd have expected at least one side to put out a first team (ie us). Hull City Reserves vs Everton Reserves was the expectation and the crowd reflected it. It''d be interesting to have a break down of our season ticket holders and where they live. I know I generally can't do cup games because of the short notice we get (this one round excepted). Instead of the train costing me just over £20 return it costs nearer to £60.
The Premier Club(half the West Stand Lower) is normally full at all home cup games, as our season tickets include all cup games.
Make the pitch unplayable or the access to the ground dangerous and let Macclesfield take it on .<grin>
