Big lad, seem strong, We threw him in at the deepend though in local derby against Millwall where he got slaughtered. Will be a good player, and not a bad finisher in my opinion.
Well up to Div One standard. Not the quickest but an all-round centre-forward type. Can finish, head, tackle, act as target man, and work hard. Level-headed lad, the move could be good for all parties. I would like to see him challenging for a first-team spot next season at Charlton.
He was my tip to be our top scorer at the beginning of the season, but lost his confidence after a nervous league debut against Millwall. Probably not helped by a clamour of moronic abuse on Charlton Life, because kids do read this sort of stuff. If Peter Taylor can restore his confidence you've got a genuine goalscorer, he'll always work hard to get into the right positions and he probably could do with more than a month at your gaff.
He didn't get a good start in fairness to the lad, when he first arrived with us. He came on against Port Vale when we were romping it at 3-0 and Bayo was playing an absolute blinder. However, PT subbed Bayo 20 minutes before the end and poor Joe just looked out of his depth or as some said like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Port Vale pulled two goals back without reply. He started today, while PT rested Bayo on the bench, hence scored the opener in our 1-2 away victory at Carlisle, before being subbed in the second for the man he replaced.
Did he take his goal well BRB...? It looks like we could be joining you in League One (assuming you don't get promoted of course). So, the experience he gains with your mob could very well benefit us in the long run.
I didn't go to the game today Franco, we was at Carlisle and that trip would just drive me stir crazy stuck on a coach for x amount of hours. Saw him against Port Vale and he did look a bit lost, poor lad, and i went to Stevenage but he never got a look in there. To his advantage Bayo can only play for about 3/4's of a game, going by the match time PT gives him. So always a chance Joe will get a look in while Keds his recovering from his hernia op. We don't play again now until Wednesday 19th Feb at home to Sheff Utd. If i can get the time off work, I will go to that game, just can't see Joe getting much of a look in maybe until the last 1/4 again though. Probably looking at best to consolidate in L1 for this season...nearly there, about another 4 wins should do it.
I hope his goal restores a bit of that confidence which he lost after the Millwall game, and the online abuse he received on CL afterwards. I hope your fans take to him and he stays with you a bit longer.
I've just watched his goal, you can see it on loan watch on the OS. I don't care what anybody says, he's a quality finisher and if he'd been brought on properly this should have been an important season for him to make progress with us, and make a significant contribution.
You've recalled Piggott - although sadly it didn't work out for lad...he just looks lost every time he comes on.
Interesting profile of Pig in the program. He admits he's still haunted by how poorly he played against Millwall, but is very appreciative of JR recalling him- "I want to prove to the new manager that he was right to have that faith in me, which I couldn't really do with Chris Powell". When he came back he had a chat with the manager and staff who told him what they wanted from him, which seems an improvement from "Go out there and make a nuisance of yourself". Also a glowing tribute to Nathan Jones (Just as Poyet did as well), particularly the importance of the faith Jones showed in him and the other players. Seems the type of player who needs an arm round the shoulder, hopefully JR will get the best out of him and he will fire in the goals which will stop the abuse he gets on CL whenever he plays. I've always put his performance against Millwall down to stagefright. I've had this myself as a musician, it's horrible, your body doesn't do what it usually does, bum notes (or poor ball control) are the result and you have to put it behind you, which Joe hasn't done yet, sadly. You could contrast the way he was thrown in at the deep end to the way to the Way Nick Pope has been carefully brought along, and when he returns from York he should have the confidence to play his natural game, which includes a lot of organising the defence and shouting at them.
