Not going to slag Johnson because if Flannigan continues to play like that and improve as he is doing there won't be a RB we could bring in or that we have that wouldn't have to up their game to remove Flano from that team.

His passing was first class and finally a RB that gets close enough to cut out crosses.

A far far cry from the poor wee sod thrown into this fixture after so long out.

  2. What I love about Flanno is he is a no nonsense type of player. He never gets bullied despite being so young, plus he doesn't mind getting forward either. He is fastly becoming a important member of the squad, if not the first team. Doesn't look good for Kelly though.

I think Carraghers career goes to show passion, determination and willingness to put your body on the line can help you become a top player despite a lack of natural ability and Flannghan reminds me a lot of him when he first came through. At the moment he deserves his place in the team even if Johnson is able to play. Reminds me a bit of Finnan aswell, also they look a bit alike

I may get shot down for this, but if Johnson get's back before Enrique, maybe stick him on the left instead of Aly Cissokho?

  6. Why would you get shot down for that?

Cissokho has been poor for most games. I do think it would be a little harsh to drop after today's performance though.

Honestly thought he was on his way out but what a turnaround. Looks to have gone back and reinvented himself. Something that shelvey should have done instead of sulking about not playing.
Could be the next Finnan. Would Definately move Johnson to LB where he seems more comfortable if he's back soon that enrique

He's been outstanding and deserves credit for the way he has improved and it hasn't affected his attitude, a very hard worker and reminds me of the improvement Henderson has made over the course of the season too.

In the summer Glen Johnson should defo be sold, Flanno could be given a contract extension, it would be between him and possibly Andre Wisdom for that RB position.

Personally I think its going to be a tough call for Rodgers as to whether he should bring in a new RB with the CL step up or stick with Flanno, but if we get shot of Johnson, keep Flanno and Wisdom next season then I can't say I'd be disappointed.

He is equipped with enough guile to man his whole flank unlike Cissokho. So it was a good decision by Rodgers to finally move Sterling to the left today.

Also, Coutinho off the left and Henderson off the right offered great balance to the midfield. All these lads had the game of their lives.

Was tongue in cheek given Cissokho's legendary cult status now <laugh>

Plus to be fair, he probably hasn't ben any worse than Johnson this season, and that's saying something <yikes>

Possibly the first game Henderson has managed to come out of his shell and perform with Gerrard in the team

Thought he was absolutely solid today. Complete turn around to the Flanagan that we saw in the reverse fixture. Don't think this spells the end for Kelly though, Derby seem to be playing Wisdom as a CB more than a RB so maybe thats where Wisdom's future lies? Johnson for me doesn't come back into the team when fully fit, Flanno has been bossing the last few games.

Agree. He was a beast chicken today with his head fully attached. He led the midfield in passes and was aggressively sharp. Wonderful performance from him today.

I think what helps is that Gerrard is so deep that he's left to fill the spot further up the pitch with only Coutinho near him who'll drift around anyway.
