We seem to assume that we have a divine right to win every week. Sometimes you just have to admit the other team were better than we hoped. If Stoke can beat Rooney and Co then they aren't mugs.
I wasn't over confident about this game, especially when the conditions aren't good. I went for 2-2 in the prediction game (though I would have been happy not to get those points). We will probably end up above Newcastle eventually, but that will be as high as we will get. I couldn't really argue about the other teams above us.
No I wasn't watching. The bloke reporting on Final Score was saying we were on top virtually all game but we seemed to take our foot off the gas in the 2nd half. It just pisses me off that we can't string wins together when we really should be. And we'll probably lose to Hull on Tuesday.
I'm not judging them, I'm just saying we should have beaten a team who have lost their last 4 away games in the League and were totally pathetic when I watched them away to Chelsea in the FA Cup.
I have watched them - against Chelsea in the Cup where they were embarrassingly crap and could have played for 180 minutes that day and wouldn't have come close to scoring. When we score twice against Stoke, I expect a win.
Man City couldn't score against Norwich, so they must be a pile of doo doo. Even Celtic do'nt win every game against part timers.
Teams don't play exactly the same every time out... We played ok today but stoke defended really well, and in case you hadn't noticed we don't have players worth hundreds of millions of pounds to call on.
We don't have a god given right to win...might have been different if we'd gone in at 2-1. Stoke are not rubbish and recently beat United. At 2-2 they defended to gain a point (may be maligning them, but going by other comments)...they are entitled to do that. Our weakness is always breaking down teams defending in depth. We are on a little unbeaten run...which is excellent after we stumbled a bit...and have Hull on Tuesday, then an FA Cup match. Not gnashing my teeth...just mildly disappointed, though, as I said, not totally surprised.
Saints were pretty pathetic against Chelsea to the neutral, when we lost 0-3 and looked like we just wanted the game to end.
cos they have been crap in there last games is not of much importance ,it didint stop them play well and get a point from the game today did it.i just dont read too much into past form cos it wont mean much on the day of the game .as stoke just showed
Alright, maybe I overreacted. I'm just frustrated that we haven't managed to beat Stoke, both this season and last season. I was just in a bad mood.
Funny how Stoke always seem to play well against us. Read what you will into that, but my view is that we were pretty one dimensional today. Stoke did a job, and they did it well. We had little width and did not command the midfield - even with all that supposed possession. PS Luke, you have two feet. Mind you, you weren't the only one!
