For me I like see 3-4 Liverpool players in the first team.

    .....................Hart

    Johnson....Jagielka.....Cahill.....Baines

    ----------Henderson---Gerrard

    --Sterling-------Rooney--------Lallana

    .............Sturridge

Could we see 5 Liverpool players in the opening match of the WC?

Team is missing the defensive quality of Smalling, the creativity of Cleverly and the good looks of Phil Jones <ok>

  5. Strange that Johnson looks a shoe-in for the England team in the summer yet most Liverpool fans would opt for Flanno over him, maybe Kelly too. All English of course too.

Our centre backs just don't fill me with confidence at all. Where have all the great English centre halves gone? We used to have quite a few every generation for decades. Now it's slim pickings.

True, he probably choose Wilshere ahead of Henderson to play along side Gerrard.

  9. Yep. When I was growing up, we always had an abundance of keepers, CBs, CMs and forwards to choose from. It was always the wider positions that were the problem. I think that the Premier League effect TBH, whoever is in charge of England rarelt looks beyond the top few sides.

Only concern I have with Wilshere is he chickens out of most challenges these days but understandable after injuries as long as it doesn't go on too long.

  13. Just don't play him in an important role where he needs to commit to every challenge.

Not that I care but I would say on current form Englands best team would be

    Hart
    Walker,Cahill,Terry,Baines
    Gerrard,Henderson
    Lallana
    Sturridge,Rooney,Sterling

Think Flanno might be an outside bet for the squad given smallings poor form.

3 for me ought to start: Gerrard sturridge and sterling. With Hendo and flan on the bench. I think wilshere, lallana and Gerrard ought to England's best midfield

Henderson and Lallana have been two of the best English midfielders this season, no question. Gerrard should play too, plus he's the captain.

Unfortunately, Roy won't start either Lallana or Hendo.

Flanno, so far, has been the best English RB this season. If he keeps it up, he should be a sure starter.

Unfortunately, it's Roy and Flanno isn't a big name mentioned in media circles, so he'll stick with average Walker and the abysmal Johnson.

He'll take Sterling, but not start him which I'd be ok with because he'd be an important option off the bench still and we have other quality wide players available. He'll take Sturridge, play him and get him injured.

    <ok>

  17. On current form, Flanno deserves to be RB <laugh>
