Simon Holt should think twice if he thinks Al Ferof doesn't stay. He'll bounce around Cheltenham and surprise a lot of people if they don't back out of the Gold Cup. That ground was tailor-made for Harry Topper. If we get an actual spring (and not the monsoon we have now) I'd be seriously interested in Al Ferof for the Gold Cup. That Supreme Novice of 2011 is worth following more than any other form line and Al Ferof always looks better on good ground and at Cheltenham. Even in his Arkle he had Cue Card covered before getting the 3rd from home wrong.
Still need to see Dodging Bullets but that Balder Succes looks like a proper Arkle horse - he jumped superbly down the back when asked to take a cut at his fences
The way Al Ferof travelled makes the Ryanair look perfect for him in my opinion. Today Katenko ensured that Harry Topper would come into his own in the last half mile, Katenko went out to ensure the race was not run to suit Al Ferof but sadly wore himself out in the process by achieving nothing more than pacemaking.
I was surprised Al Ferof was in the line up to be honest... i remember seeing an article 4 days ago on Sky Sports with Nicholls saying its unlikely he would run if the ground was too testing! All very odd. Anyone know why there was an about turn on that as it couldnt get any more testing ? I think Al Ferof is seen at his best on good or good to soft ground
Another great finish by two good horses. Glad it was a no bet race for me though as I'd have been second again! I want Persian Snow next up at Warwick
Really thought Dodging Bullets was going to win convincingly entering the home straight! But well done to Module and connections.
Need mendip express to go with Harry and module in a treble-surely will like the conditions more than his opponents?
This Betfair Hurdle looks really competitive (as ever) but so often a horse just runs away with it - hope it is Irish Saint today
We'll probably all be sat here in 10 minutes time saying "Bloody hell, Henderson & Geraghty, how did that go off at 14/1"
