I´ve never known a manager To cause such a divide, Between fans of our club before And split them open wide, And that to me´s the saddest thing About this love affair, Between the club and Hughton C Which makes it hard to bear, For only one loser there´ll be If public discontent, Brings the worst-case scenario When this season is spent, And that will be us sitting here Spouting our worldly views, And those who turn up every week Standing in rain-drenched queues, And personal interests aside And petty hatreds too, I thought it would be crystal clear What fans needed to do, But slowly, surely, from within We´re helping our demise, Instead of pulling all we can To keep our hard-earned prize, And no, it´s not just on match days Where we must show support, But on the social media waves Where back-stabbing´s a sport, It´s become omnipresent now Quite unavoidable, So players and bosses alike All feel uncomfortable, We are the club, the club is us And that´s what is so nuts, We´re shooting ourselves in the foot And there´s no ´ifs´or ´buts´, Far be it though for me to tell Others how to behave, My only concern is the club Whose status we must save, For some might see us going down As only temporary, Whereas I fear we might have many Years in custody, So I hope in these fourteen games There are still left to play, Hughton can come up with the goods To turn fans back his way, Which will in turn then help the team To find what´s been lacking, And hopefully then encourage Fans to give their backing, For this thread´s title says it all In this emotional game, If we´re not careful, and we fall We´ll not be without blame. Hi RBF bor, I think Cory Varney sums it up perfectly when he says lose to West Ham then it becomes inevitable . . . relegation. One more lazy performance by the players like the first half against Cardiff then they can look forward to playing against our country cousins next season. Put Rex in a green and yellow shirt, that should add a bit more bite to our attack LOL.
RBF, let me put it this way. We are playing the team at the bottom of the league looking for a win in ages. We go a goal up within the opening minutes of the game and then take our foot off the throttle. A PROFESSIONAL team would have buried Cardiff. Do you think if Man City score in the opening minutes they will ease off. Not on your Nelly !!! By the way, nice to see a team playing in green and yellow winning at Craven Cottage. Maybe we should swop our team for the Blades! Wonder if Nigel Clough would fancy his chance to emulate his dad in the top division ?
Not disputing in any way that we should have beaten Cardiff NORKIE, but certainly don´t agree that defeat at W. Ham will relegate us, things are far too tight in the bottom half of the table for anything to be decided for ages yet, will probably go right down to the last week of the season.
RBF bor, I don't look at the situation through rose coloured glasses. The attitude of our players will play an important part in our survival and if last Saturday is anything to go on, Heaven help us. I discount Villa, Lambert knows how to get the best from his players. Teams who have taken steps to rectify their form and climbing the table are Sunderland, Stoke, Palace. Inconsistent are us and WBA. WHU are having injury problems plus bad luck. Fulham and Cardiff have changed their manager who have brought in new players hoping to improve their form. Hull are in decline but have strengthened their strike force; only Swansea left and they appear to have hit the panic button. The WHU game will be our 26th game. If we are still on 24pts then IF we fail to defeat a team struggling with bad luck then where do we get the points from ? Fulham away !!! Our players had a golden opportunity last week and blew it !!! Nothing would please me more than to see our players buckle down and prove their mettle. Today's game will prove if they can be on par with PL status.
Dave bor, as our country cousins are apt to remind us, that is history. Does history repeat itself and if it does what guarantee it will be us to gain advantage. Our board declared a seven year plan. Still on course but the board did expect relegation within that period. Would be a pity if it happened this year seeing we have a team that should be holding a mid table position.
No question of any coloured glasses for me NORKIE, I´ll just keep believing until believing is proved to be futile.
Hi RBF bor, I said the players would have to make the effort. They proved today they can live with a top four club. Now they have to keep that impetus going next week against the bubble blowers. Should be a good game with the Hammers winning at Villa. Oxcanary bor. Sounds like Karl Marx was a student of Shakespeare, he knew all about tragedies and farces. LOL.
