Can't see too many changes, will he drop Meyler for Jake? Harsh on Meyler but I can't see him leaving jake out. Maybe push Meyler to left mid and drop Brady?

    Harper
    Roses Davies macca foggy
    Elmo hudd jake Meyler
    Long jelavic

Difficult to call this, I'd take a point now. But will go for 2-0 us.

    Rosie. Davies. Macca. Figgy.
    Elmo. Thud. Livers. Brady.
    Long. Jelly.

With Chester out this is our best option. Aluko on the bench for a 80th minute cameo when 0-2 up - attack when in the lead against the relegation pack.

    Looking forward to this game!!

I dunno if you saw Brady against spurs fez but I'd be amazed if he starts.

Not sure Meyler can play left wing. People usually get all menstrual on here when Bruce picks people slightly out of position but Meyler's never been a winger has he?

Really scared of this match. They are on a good run, playing at home and we don't look too good at the moment.
I'm relying on the front two to make the difference, but I'm worried.

It's not really winger is it. He can use his left foot, he's got. Great engine, he deserves to keep his place in the team but we need jake back too. If we drop Meyler then Quinn needs to play on the left.

Meylers got to play, great game last weekend and it's his former club. I'd bring Jakey in for Huddlestone.

    Harper
    Rosenior Davies McShane Figueroa
    Elmo Livermore Meyler Boyd
    Jelavic Long

If Bruce picks Meyler on the left then it's to contain Johnson, who personally I don't think he's been overly impressive. He has scored a fair few goals recently but an awful lot had been keeper errors and his goal last weekend was a tap in. Don't understand the hype around him as he doesn't influence enough to be considered an England player

7 goals in 7 games is good by anyone's estimation, doesn't matter how they go in. We'd think jelavic or long is a world beater if they do that

the reason Johnson has caught the eye (in addition to his goal tally) is that he's one of very few English footballers who get the ball and commit to going forward with it. he runs at people, he's got a trick, pace and defenders don't like it. I think it's why he didn't fit in at Citeh cause he was too direct.

Very true, but for me he's not a patch on Oxlade, Townsend, Barkley, Lallana, Walcott (when fit) or even Sterling. Ahead of Brazil I would say the wing is our strongest position, but does Johnson add any improvement?

Id bring Livermore back in and drop Brady and play Meyler on the left, Im a big believer in paying players against previous clubs

He's potentially better than all those. With the exception of Walcott the others have not had a great deal of experience. Potential yes, but......

Townsend has been electric the last few weeks. He's the one Sunderland player with the potential to really hurt us.

C'mon really? He's had a few good games, but he's no world beater! Look at what Townsend has done when fit, what Lallana & Barkely have done all year. Realistically you wouldn't take Johnson over them would you?

I think there's a decent chance that Bruce will persevere with Brady.

Brady was not fit against spurs, he might well be fit by now.

I saw the Sky match choice thingymebob, so I know what you mean; but he has class and he needs match starts to get that confidence rolling - Sunderland is ideal for this. I totally disagree with Meyler on the left wing as he is simply not right and we lose that channel. I could go with Quinn, as we need to see more of him, but it is Brady to make us smile, gets my vote.

I too like to play 'returning' players like McShane, Elmo (He might make them groan today) and Meyler, but we should have Elmo and Macca starting, so Meyler as that dreaded impact sub is, for me, perfect!

Other hex factors are Thud, who they wanted and, of course, Steve Bruce, who they haven't been able to better since he left (can't see Poyet getting them 9th to beat Bruce's 10th, can you?)

The kiss of death is Woy wotching Johnston, will he shine, will he ****e.

Whichever way I'm in for an interesting time in my local afterwards- ****ing luv it!! Enjoy <cheers>

Meyler on the left would be shocking we don't need to contain Sunderland we need to get at them and let them worry about containing us !!!!
