Yes and no. He did sign a 3 year contract, thus indicating his loyalty to WFC and he was talking about next season and the progression of the club and the team. However, he did not come out and say (as brendan rogers did) that he is staying or anything like that. Its just a shame to see a legend leave the club where he hade his name.
Sorry to have to tell you this, but Malky is at Cardiff today talking about terms.......... Don't know anything more than that
Judas? Absolutly not. Why should he not want to look at available options? Why would he not take an opportunity if it was the right thing for him and his career? Gutted if we see him go (feels like a done deal to be honest), will be pleased for him and his family. Hope he does not pillage on his way out too. All the best Malky thanks for keeping us safe. (Oh and I do feel that Bazzer read this well and told the board allow him to speak to them and we get compo or he quits and we might get nada - or Bazzer has found someone who can advise him better than a month ago, either way....)
Of course it makes him Judas. Except Judas only accepted 30 pieces of silver - I suspect Malky is asking for much more If he goes he is far worse than Rodgers who some call Judas. Rodgers went to his "home" club - the one where his heart was and who gave him his first managerial opportunity - his mistake was his stupid "integrity" comment Malky signed a new contract on improved terms here a couple of months ago knowing everything about the club, its finances, its ownership, its buy and sell strategy - if he walks away from that contract it is PURELY money - you might say good luck but it still makes him JUDAS
Rogers is not hated by most any more. But he was slagged off so much because he came out ans swore allegience to the club, but then naffed off as soon as Reading came knocking. Malky has been smart and said nothing either way. Leo- it might not be just about the money, he is much more likely to get invesment to improve the squad, they are more likely to get promoted, and therefore improve his CV and stock even more.
Not quite in the same league as the integrity quote, but when Burnley came knocking and we refused, Malky said he was happy with the stance of the board refusing any other team's advances. Another team come in and he immediately wants to speak to them!! What has changed?
Surely signing a new contract then after a few months ask to speak to another club about managing them is every bit as bad if not worse
I totally agree. Rodgers made one stupid comment - if he had said nothing no-one could have blamed him for going. Maky though signed allegiance to us a couple of months ago and now might tear that paper up BHD - good points and probably correct - more than JUST money - but he knew in March what he knows now about Watford - maybe he should have held off on a new contract till the summer if he thought he could improve his CV - not very honourable to sign and then look around
The move as a whole would be worse than Rodgers, but I wouldn't be as angry as I was two years ago. As a fan of a relatively small club, you expect the best to turn their back on you for pastures new after a period of time. What you don't expect is to have that shoved in your face. The way that Tommy Smith and Danny Graham left the club is frankly all you can expect nowadays, even of good people. And let's not forget that Danny signed a new contract too. How bad Malky would be for leaving now would very much depend on what assurances Malky was given by Winter and Taylor, and what has changed since Dasani actually took control. Only time will tell.
With Rodgers it was more a case that he said he wasn't going anywhere and was loyal to Watford but then went back on his word! With Malky, although I don't like the idea of him leaving, but he has never said he isn't interested in a move. He was offered a contract a few months ago and signed it. But in football, the length of a contract only determines how much money you can ask for from another club wanting the player or managers services. Had he not signed a new contract we wouldn't be looking at much compo. I don't think that Cardiff is a step up as there is more pressure of getting promoted. With us, not getting relegated is a good season!
I have to agree there Leo, the thing thats annoying me the most is the fact that he signed on and was talking about where the club is going and moving to, it seemed like he was devoted to the club and was loyal, but now it seems there was none.
MM will be as bad as Rogers if he leaves in my opinion. MM may not have come out and stated his loyalty to Watford like Rogers did then left but he did only recently sign a new 3 year contract. Sometimes actions speak louder than words!!
When Malky signed his new contract Julian Winter was his boss. 3 months later it is rumoured Baz is his boss, that is one big difference. From what I've been told of Baz I would find him difficult to stomach. Malky has my support.
The issue there is he had two choices, he could turn down a contract and be out of a job anyway (i assume his ran out this summer) and who is to say someone would definately approach the club for him. He did what he thought was best by taking the new contract with us, but then someone else came along with possibly a better offer. This is not great and not ideal, but he cant see the future. Another reason he is better than Rogers cos rogers swore allegience, malky never promised to stay.
