I don't think he will go at the end of the season. He made the point (unprompted) in the press conference yesterday that he is under contract until the end of next season, so I think he will stay until at least then.

It's a bit of a bummer for the article that Poch's contract runs out at the end of NEXT season. So I make twaddle of it.

Yeah I don't really think he's keen to leave. If a high-profile job opens up which he's a leading candidate for, then we're in trouble, but until then I don't see why he wouldn't want to stay.

Agree. He will leave if the Board fail to build on what we already have but providing he has their finance and support I can't see him leaving.

As PTF said, Mauricio said he has a contract until the end of the next season. We are in the process of sorting out the club hierarchy, so no surprise that a new contract has not been mentioned (as far as we know). Don't like the bit about KL looking for another manager...though that could be just in case MP asks to leave (and may be totally untrue). The idea of a director of football has been mooted for some time. I suppose it is possible that Katharina wants to change our whole system of playing (though I feel it is unlikely for anyone inexperienced in football to have strong views about that). And presumably she is quite happy about our league position...unless she bought into Nicola's idea of CL football. Really hope MP stays.

decent job opportunities for a man of his stature pop up fairly frequently. I think if the board aren't prepared to put hands in pockets in the summer, he may well be off.

I think he would relish the thought of managing Real Madrid in time but even he knows he needs a track record to build up first. His other unprompted comment yesterday was the bit about why not play in Champions league with Southampton. That goes beyond the length of his contract suggesting that he is thinking ahead more than just 18 months.

My only concern is that a managers stock rises and falls very quickly and they may need to take the best jobs why they are in demand. Who knows what next season will bring, we could be like West Brom or Swansea and make the change. Suddenly MP has gone from the best new thing to sacked from a struggling club.

I think manager's more than player's have to take the opportunities when thry sre there to move and progress.

Indeed, and isn't that the greater achievement..? If you manage in the Champions League with Real Madrid, you're just one of many who've gone before. If you take Southampton in that direction, you have broken new ground. These players and managers who automatically line up to be signed for big clubs need to take a fresh new look at what ambition really means.
