There are so many things that make me wanna puke about the game today and I highlighted one of them recently - Chico Flores doing his dying swan impression in the West Ham game after his pony tail was attacked by Andy Carroll's arm.

West Ham themselves have now added to the farce of it all by threatening legal action for Carroll not having his ban overturned. It's ridiculous. Where the **** will it all end?

It just keeps getting worse thats for sure. It just isnt the PL its basically every pro sports league. The NHL is talking about banning their players from being in the Olympics after this year. They are pissed because the IOC wont give the NHL cash for using their players. The next thing you know someone will sue the league for a missed call or something on the last day that leads a team to being relegated.

And so they should. Cheating, **** referees, mindless decisions with no recompense or even so much as a simple explanation. Nothing's getting done about any of it what so ever, time for the governing bodies to get a big wake up call, they bloody well need it.

There's a lot riding on league positions, they need to be getting things right. If a team gets relegated by a point that was cheated off them by some sissy little **** like Chico Flores, its ridiculous. It's a professional game that lacks professionalism.

It's a profession where the professionals get ahead by cheating their fellow professionals. For most of us, if we did something like that at work we would get sacked.

As I understand it the FA will decide today if the matter should go to CAS. West ham want a personal hearing.

Setting a dangerous precedent in my opinion- could open the floodgates for referrals to CAS when a decision goes against clubs

I can see both arguments here, but I believe the card was a big mistake, not borderline, so it is right and fair for the club to follow the process open to them.

I think your point, APM, is correct, it may well open the floodgates, to some degree. I disagree, though, that it is a dangerous precedent; the whole process needs reviewing and something must drive that. If it takes repeated referrals to arbitration, to secure a clearer and more sensible card system, then so-be-it.

I don't know what to make of all this malarkey about refereeing decisions.

It's an awful job and a lot is open to interpretation, the Carroll sending off being a prime example.

I personally thought he should have been sent off as I believe he swung his arm unnaturally in the hope it would connect.

The reaction it got from Flores is another matter.

Maybe managers should ref the game for a half each and knock referees on the head all together.

I can understand why the card was given too. He did swing at him and by the look on his ugly mug he did intend to connect

They supplied the fan belts used to tie their hair back. Obvious when you think about it

Fair point fez but I don't think CAS is the right forum. Rules in football are open to interpretation by referees in the heat of the moment. You will never get uniform application of the rules by all referees

Fair f**king play to them! Referees have a really hard job, and can like anyone in any job make a mistake. In cases like this, the Ref and the FA should be able to look at the footage and say OK, made a misjudgement, and rescind the 3 game ban. The FA go to such lengths to protect their referees from any form of criticism it gets ridiculous, needing West ham to prove beyond all doubt the ref made a mistake is stupid

They did look at the footage when an appeal was made. They upheld the ban.

    From a different angle...
What if, upon review the Referee gets it wrong, which as we all know happens and the red card is rescinded. However if 'getting it wrong' was influenced by award winning theatrics as is quite often the case, will the FA then seek retribution on the offending player/team?
Yes, you could argue Carroll swung his arm but for Flores to make out it had smacked him in the chops like he did, would imply my 6 year old Son would spark him out with a swift left hook!
It is about time all of the play acting and cheating was stamped out, be it through fines, bans or whatever, but it needs to be got rid of.
I hate the Premier League for this reason alone!

Totally agree if Carol wasn’t so tall he would have hit him in the face, definitely swung his arm with intent.

What I mean is, when they looked at the footage, they see his arm 'brush' Flores' head and uphold it on grounds that contact was made, whereas what they should do is look at it, see it's not intentional and that contact wasn't significant and say, fair dos, not a red card, but the onus is on WHM to prove beyond all doubt a mistake was made which is unfair as even the most minimal contact would be interpreted by the FA as arms raised and the ban upheld

Even on here there isn't a consensus view on whether it was a red or not, with a hint of doubt about the intent, the FA will uphold the red card.

Are you seriously telling me that a player deserves a 3-game ban for something somebody thought he had intent to do, even though he didn't actually do it? His harm brushed the hair at worse and then the amateur dramatics began; dramatics that are far more damaging to football than a bit of in-play physicality.

There are too many poor decisions, too much player pressure on officials and far too much cheating; every means should be taken to challenge poor decisions and make the FA take action in making the game better controlled - there needs to be pain to get the gain, but the game and football will benefit.

Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood believes the FA should hand out heavy punishments to those feigning injury.
