Robbie Savage has us to go down with Fulham and Cardiff. Like Alan Smith the entire basis for this seems to be our run-in. http://http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26067155
Well, it's basically perm any three of the ten who currently occupy the bottom half positions. That means there's a 30% chance of paid pundits - or the 'man in the street', suggesting we'll be one of them. And on the proviso we've won just one match of our last eleven (in league and F A cup) it's not too hard to see the logic behind his reasoning - especially with the difficulty of our last four games well documented.
Never said that I agreed with him, just thought it was appropriate for a thread named "Who thinks we will survive.."
Re: Savage, his reasoning, our run-in, is sound. It would be alright if we were picking up points now but we're not. We can't merely stay in this position up until the last four games because we will then drop in to the bottom three at some point between the 34 and 38 game mark, surely. The question is, does anyone see our form being significantly better than that of the teams around us over the next 10 games? I don't. There are no signs for that. We are relying on an implosion from two teams around us (I think Fulham are gone). Problem is, with our run-in, we are likely to implode late on too. I think we'll go down. Good news is, I'm often wrong.
You have to consider logic and form and both suggest we are down but if logic and form were always correct then every favourite would win and every Bookie would be skint. At the moment we could survive but it will be difficult if we drop into the bottom 3 between now and the end of the season and, with the top teams fighting for every point, impossible if we are in the bottom 3 with a month to go.
If I'm being honest, my opinion is I think we will go down. Don't like saying it and I hope I'll be wrong come the end of this season.
Does Savage say "David Bellamy got a goal" at 3:22 in this clip? Well thatsh wierly warver wonderful.
Just to add that Savage went on and on all year (last season) about Villa getting relegated and did they? No, and Savage just starts a new tirade based on our last 4 games of the season. He is no more an expert than the bloke down the pub, the fact that he is paid a fortune for spouting his drivel does not make me feel any the better about it.
No but he wasn't far off with his villa prediction. Why are folk getting defensive when savage gives his opinion? Half of us think we're going down and it's our ducking team. I think we'll be especially lucky not to go down, myself. It's hard to argue that we deserve to play in this league based on the past year...
