Hull City request for change of playing name: Stakeholder Consultation

Thank you for your letter dated 20th December 2013 asking for our opinion on Hull City’s proposed name change. In line with all of our football policy decisions the views of the local grassroots community were taken through a vote at the East Riding FA Council meeting on Wednesday 5th February 2014.

A long and detailed discussion took place with the result of the vote as follows:

23 were against the name change
2 were for the name change
5 had no view on the name change

The East Riding County FA can therefore confirm that we oppose the name change. This view will also be reflected with our vote at full FA Council.

NB The East Riding FA Council is a decision making body made up of representatives from local grassroots football organizations. It includes representatives from all local leagues and from the Hull and East Riding Schools FA’s. The Referees Association is also represented alongside other key individuals who make a significant contribution to grassroots football. For key decisions members consult within their own organization before carrying their collective vote to the East Riding FA Council.

The decision of East Riding FA Council represents the end of our involvement in this matter.

    Adam Lowthorpe
    Chief Executive

I don't recall anyone claiming it did. It's not why it was consulted. <doh>

    More good news.

Is that all official responses in to the FA now and all officially rejecting the name change?

John Prescott and Tom Courtney appear a little isolated.......

All clubs (pro or amateur) have to be affiliated to their local County FA otherwise they cannot play in FA sanctioned competitions.

Hull City are affiliated to ERCFA.

So, how do they represent the supporters of Hull City? Have they asked for our views? No, their board members have voted on the issue.

They have given their view on the name change, not the "proper supporters" view. Although I'm not sure what "tigers 2008" means by "proper supporters"...
