I was prepared to wait until the Cardiff game. If we lost that then I would have started calling for him to be sacked, so something serious must have happened after the meeting if ML, as has been reported, agreed to Monk being on the staff, to the HJ changing his mind and sacking him. It would be nice if the board gave a full detailed explanation as to why they have sacked him, rather than the drip bits we get from various news outlets. Would also be nice to know if they intend to appoint somebody before the end of the season.
Nothing wrong with his team shape and structure when he had a full squad to call on. Ask the Valencia supporters who applauded us from the field.
Just ask Rafa Benitez. (league cup semi final, 2 legs) Or even David Moyes....got our only point at Everton last season, then we totally dominated Man Utd at Old Trafford just a couple of weeks ago. The players miss the chances and leak the goals. Not that Laudrup ever hung them out to dry when asked the same questions over and over again in post match interviews. This Saturday is the time for the likes of Monk to walk the walk as apparently he has been doing plenty of talking.
Not sure I can agree with that Ivor, I know you can only beat what put in front of you, but Valencia were shocking out there, and anyone with insight could see that there was something seriously wrong with the Valencia team, much like us at West Ham, guess what happened to both managers?.............
I wouldn't worry about Monk, he's simply a temporary fix, I'm sure deep down you realise that!............
your right there dragon. They certainly underestimated us that day and they played 10 against 11....they never made that mistake in the replay as it was men against boys at the liberty. One win in 10 is about all laudrup could manage
