Not writing loads as on my phone but where do we rank our current squad compared with the league position.

Is it the 8th best in the league? Worse? Better?

Who has a better squad? Not a better firstXI but a better squad?

For me we have the 3rd best squad in the league at the very worst. It could be argued that we have the second best. Only city have an undisputed superior squad to us in terms of talent and ability.

I dont buy this bollocks that the squad is lacking. The midfields awful and that causes problems elsewhere. Its like a car that has a knackered engine. It wont run right no matter how good the rest is.

I also dont buy this overhaul nonsense. Some tweeking is needed, in one area above everything else but a massive overhaul with half the squad being replaced sounds horrible. Some people talk about our players as if they are relegation quality at best. These people are idiots, nothing more, nothing less.

We have a very good squad imo, the issues are obvious to all but whoever seems to be managing us but the rest is very good. The defence is in a bit of a transition from the old guard to the new while the attack should have every other side shaking. The gk is a non issue. Some players need to go, some have already gone. A mix of bad management and lack of opportunities doesnt help some players while others get a free pass to be dreadful far too often. Our best possible line up however is a brilliant team minus the midfield.

Whats everyone elses view? Good, bad, great or terrible?

Second best squad before Jan transfer window. Second or third best now, just because Chelsea's is better balanced with the addition of Matic, but still poor up frontt

Yours is slightly unbalanced in terms of no 10s now.
Under Jose or Saffa, you would finish top three minimum

The squad is great bar the midfield.

But, as you rightly point out, the midfield is the engine and without that the squad don't tick. That means other squads which do have fully functioning engines are actually better.
It's all very well having great alloy wheels and leather trim but if the engine is ****ed the car without leather trim is still better, until your car gets its engine fixed.

You seem to be blaming the current mechanic that all the pistons are ****ed when in actual fact the previous mechanic never put oil in it.

    <ok>

To answer your question though I'd say fourth best at the moment.

Beyond city and maybe Chelsea I struggle to see who else has a better squad.

Liverpool? Their squad is a bit thin.

    Spurs isnt very good

    Arsenals possibly

Everton? Not in a billion years.

Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal definitely have a better squad than you lot. It's arguable yours is about equal to the likes of Liverpool - One or two great players surrounded by good/average.

I would say we're behind City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

City's is complete really. Chelsea could do with a couple of strikers but make do so it's not as important as our lack of midfield. Arsenal have a really nice balance but are one striker and one centre half from it being right just yet.

We've got a better set of players than Spurs, Liverpool and Everton in my opinion and we're streets ahead of the rest.

    This..

Your CM was not worse than ours before the window. Fit Fletcher-Carrick> Ramires-Mikel/Lampard. But now we've got Matic ours in stronger.

Why you bought another attacking central midfielder/No 10 when you have Kagawa, only just bought an ACM in Fellaini, and offered Rooney a new contract is beyond me (although Mata was VG wide right forward under AVB, drifting in leaving Bosingwa exposed though).

Surely Moyes should have bought a Matic type?

It could well be, obviously, that having seen Kagawa often enough he doesn't think he's up to it. A view shared by a load of the fans to be perfectly frank.
It's not like Ferguson used him much either. I have no idea why, on the evidence of his time with us, Kagawa keeps getting mentioned like he's some nailed on first teamer. He isn't.

Other than that, it's called building a squad. Pretty bloody simple really.

He bought Mata because he could get him and God knows we need more players of that quality, this helped us to coerce Rooney into staying which also could help in him assembling the squad he needs.

Maybe, just maybe, the DCM or Cm or whatever you guys who know best want to call them, was not available in this window. Ever considered that?

So, perhaps he will go after that person in the summer.

In the meantime, he needs to get what players he does have at his disposal firing. And fast, as the clock is now really starting to tick.

Of course it is f**king lacking if we do not have enough quality CMs or DMs. As someone quite rightly said, no point having a bentley or RR with a lovely interior if the engine is shot and the car won't move.

You could argue it is 4th best. I think it is 5th best not because the players individually are **** but because as a squad to do the job demanded, they are unbalanced and not up to scratch.

Ask yourself this: If you were Pellegrini or Maureen, who in the United first team would you put in your first team ahead of others in your squad if your first teamers got injured or suspended? If you are really serious about matching or overtaking the chavs or City, you have got your answer !

IF ALL PLAYERS ARE FIT -

We have better strikers than you. You have better wide players (as it seems Moyes is using Mata as a wide man).

We have a better Midfield, but that's not hard - even ours needs strengthening.

You have a better RB (Rafa vs Johnson) we have a better LB (Enrique vs Evra)

Our 2 best CB's are far better. Agger and Sakho. You have an old man in Vidic and Evans/Jones. No contest.

If I were making a team between Utd and Liverpool Players it would be:

    ------------------De Gea---------------

    Rafa--------Agger----Sakho----Enrique---

    -------------Carrick or Lucas?---------------

    Mata-------------Gerrard----------Sterling

    -------------Sturridge---Suarez-----------

    (Or switch Mata with Sterling)

Or play Coutinho just behind Suarez and put Sturridge on the left replacing Sterling.

That team above with a manager like Rodgers would be a title winning team <ok>

Especially if we were able to combine a bench with some of the players that didn't get a mention.

Do me a favour, if any manager had a combined group of players then there is no way they would play that team. Rooney would play on the left instead of Sterling, whilst RVP would be alongside Suarez instead of Sturridge. Vidic is a lot better than both of your CBs when fit and playing week in week out

But on from SAS have been MILES better than RVP and Rooney, Fact. It's their understanding of each others movement that makes them so deadly.

    Vidic better <laugh>
He's an old man that is well past his best.

Fair enough Rooney could take Sterling's position on the left, although, Sterling is much more of a winger than Rooney will ever be.

I suppose you could put Mata in the middle and have Sterling and Rooney or Janazi (sp?) on the flanks. By putting Mata in the middle - Gerrard could play the Carrick/Lucas role, better than they could <ok>

    Liverpool have better strikers lol.

They dont, plain and simple. Their goal keeper is average.

    Our wingers are ****e.

    Our midfielda are both ****e.

    Defence? Unsure.

    No Cleverley or Fellaini FFS!

In all seriousness though, KS is bang on, you'd have Rooney in ahead of Sterling and RVP ahead of Sturridge every day of the week.

In fact I would have Gerrard and Carrick alongside each other as the CM's with Mata, Suarez and Rooney as the three being RVP as the spearhead.

The centre halves are debatable but on current form can't argue that Liverpool's are stronger.

Let's face it, we were never going to agree lads. One thing for sure we'd have a very decent squad.

    Just a question here -

Would you have BR managing the team or DM??
