this is a very interesting situation about calibre of players being brought in. Correct me if I am wrong, but the "swansea way" has not been to go out and spend stupid money and stupid wages on "superstars". THe biggest asset of our club was not the individuals (which seems to be what is breeding) but the sum of all parts with a teamworking ethic, something which has clearly been lacking (and gradually losing week in week out). Out strengh always has been getting the best out of players who were not utilised in the correct way at previous clubs. Where has the closing down of opposition players gone high up the pitch? What about the magic triangles that every pundit used to have wet dreams over? These only worked by working as a complete unit. The sooner the team work as a team, the better off we will be. I jsut hope that Monk is able to get us back to being a team.
Just seen this tweet from Michu posted about 45 minutes ago. It was in Spanish... I used google translate. "@ Michuoviedo: In the end it comes down to feel wanted ..."
We are not competing with Leyton Orient are we. We are up against Newcastle, Sunderland, Hull, Everton, Aston Villa, West Brom, Stoke, Norwich, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Southampton and Cardiff...chuck in Reading, QPR, Leeds etc. from the level below. I'm not going to bother wasting any more time debating with you, waste of everyone's time....if we go down I'll be reminding you of what you said at this time though.
You may well be right, but I've never heard of any player joining any of those teams because of good access to an airport. I can imagine a player at an interview. Chairman and manager tell him what the clubs all about and ask the player if he has any questions. And he asks where the nearest airport is. LOL. I can imagine players joining many of those clubs before Swansea for a variety of reason,s but not because of airport access. Anyway, Heathrow's not exactly difficult to get to from Swansea.
If you believe this ****e you are a cretin. Who scored in the League Cup final? That's right Michu and De Guzman contributed 3 goals. Laudrup signings. How many of the team that started the Final were players that Laudrup introduced? That's right De Guzman, Hernandez and Michu. Routledge and Davies were reserve players before Laudrup also. Ki may not have been signed by Laudrup but he wasn't part of Rodgers' team...he played at CB only because Chico was injured. Lamah and Tiendalli came off the bench. Laudrup signings. They all played in the 2 legs against Chelsea also. We went through thanks to a fantastic defensive performance. Chico and Ben Davies were immense. Who put us into the lead? Michu. Graham (a player you should know, you're probably up at Bolton on his back right now as I type) scored the second. Stop repeating LIES as facts. This is one of the many reasons most think you a dipstick.
Keep on about the airport if you must, I mentioned it as one of several factors...the more important being money and living in a city with all the trimmings. Perhaps you don't think the foreign players consider how easy it is to fly home for a day or 2 at short notice...perhaps the furthest you've ever been is Bridgend, I don't know but consider this; Who did Tom Ince join? What about Ryan Bennett? How about Lukaku? Ryan Bertrand? Ashley Westwood? Zaha? Adrian Marriappa? Lewis Holtby? Tom Huddlestone? Nathan Redmond? Nathaniel Clyne? Jay Rodriguez? Odemwingie? John Guidetti? Borini? Matt Jarvis?
I don't think I've ever read anything quite so stupid. Only you, or your mate plastic, could dream up something as ridiculous as that.
Well that is true then for all managers since Roberto. Each benefited from the previous manager....and that goes fir dear old Brendan. However your comments regards the cup are utter ****e. Only an idiot would claim ML was not instrumental in our win. If it was all Curtis then why has he not been offered the caretaker role....surely our wonderful board would have rewarded such hard work. As others have said, ML brought in some very influential players that helped bring the win...and he managed to breathe new life into Routledge, something BR failed to do.
And how many of them joined because there was an airport nearby? Manchester's a **** city, but plenty of players go there. So for Liverpool. I went to Bridgend once. Never again. More depressing than Swansea, and that's bad enough.Yes, I know what you mean about amenities, because I left Swansea because it had nothing. But some players like that. But you think an airport is more imprant to players than it actually is. Swansea's only 3 hours from Heathrow. That's close enough for most people. Maybe that's the real reason Laudrup left. Huw sacked him because it took him to long to get to Paris and back again. LOL.
Ivor - don't go claiming I'd say things I haven't said. You're just making a fool of yourself. Dai speaks a lot of sense, but I don't agree with everything says and as we've never met I don't think you could call us mates. So get a grip old boy. Not only do you want to slag Dai ff but now you're trying to drag me into your silly arguments for some reason. And just for the record I think Laudrup helped us win the League Cup.
Not many players will leave in my view, but hopefully some, De Guzman now has to work for his starting position, and unless he improves drastically, then I hope he's gone at the end of the season, love to see Ki back, and maybe the new manager will be able sift the wheat from the chaff!...............
Afraid it isn't Ivor thats got a clouded outlook on objectivity, dai and plastic are accumulating a cloudy outlook though
LOL. Laudrup has gone, so time for everyone to get over it and move on. Doesn't matter how many times you throw your toys out the pram, he's not coming back. Ever. What's the point of dwelling on it. Big game Saturday, so let's start looking forward to it. Won't be any build-up at this rate. I now have an optimistic outlook. I think we'll stay up, get a new manager and be better next season. No clouds on the horizon.
I wish there was only one Laudrup thread. Far to many and all more or less talking about the same thing.
As a Swansea fan living in Manchester, I have to say you are completely wrong. Manchester is about as ideal as it gets for footballers.
I've been there twice and can't find anything good to say about it. For footballers, yes it does have a couple of not so bad teams. But apparently that's not what young players want. They want airports and amenities.
