If we get the same points from games to come as we did last year we'll get 93 points I've replaced the relegated teams (to league 1) with promoted teams (from league 1). I've replaced promoted teams (to prem league) with relegated teams (from prem league). As we won all our home games against relegated teams I'm putting down 6 points for last year for 2 remaining games. For the 3 remaining games against relegated team I've put down 0 points for home game as we lost to palace & cardiff. 2 points for away games as we drew all the away games last year against promoted teams. This comes to 8 wins, 3 draws & 6 defeats = 27 points So if we do as well as last year we'll end up with 93 points which would see us promoted. If we slump to a point a game like last year at this time it will see us with 83 points.not sure if this is enough for promotion. Not predicting anything just adding a bit of analysis.
There's no opposition in this league to stop us getting promoted, the thing that could stop us is losing self-belief like last season. It didn't matter if we were playing Watford or Peterborough last year, when we lost our way, the opposition didn't matter. This year is (and hopefully will remain) kind of the reverse - confidence is so high, it doesn't matter who we play - we should be able to beat them. We also have the added comfort of points on the board, which means it doesn't feel like every game is a must-win. As I said, every player in the starting eleven seems to be oozing confidence, so if one or two have an off-day, others can step up - plus we have some real quality on the bench. We're the best team in this league - if the boys keep believing it until the end of the season, we're champions.
I think we should win another 8 this season with 4 draws (that´s me keeping my feet on the ground) That should do it. We just need to stay away from a going 3, 4 or 5 games without a win from now til the end of the season so we don´t get jelly knees & give the others hope let them close up on us. We ain´t going to get relegated this season & the play offs are almost secure so, so far so good
We are mentally tougher this season ... and for me that's the real key ... credit to Pearson for that, the players he's brought in (including Moore, Schlupp and Vardy - who were not playing much (if at all) during that disastrous run) have a real combative mentality ... that was missing last season when the train came off the tracks
I think in the last ten years, 87 would see you up automatically. So we may need as few as six wins and three draws (or seven wins) from 17 games! Of course, if we're going for the championship, we'll need more.
I'm finding it very hard to get my head around how much more we need to have promotion confirmed. I sort of hope that the players are thinking about it too; what seems to be working is that they seem to see every game individually: as one we need to win.
Vardy lifts the crowd straight away. How many ganes have we seen this season where the opposition kick off and Vardy and straight away put in a tackle. Little things like that really make a big difference
Interesting with Vardy, every game he has scored in we have won. Right now I hope he scores against Watford.
Looking at Burnley/Forest - teams who can legitimately trouble us - if either of them win 10 of their last 18, drawing 5 more = 35 more points. And lets face it if either of them win 10 from 18 then it's tremendous going. So, Burnley are now on 88 points. It leaves us wanting 23 points from 17 games. 7 wins, 2 draw, 8 losses. Mind you, we can number crunch until the cows come home, it still doesn't mean it will translate on the pitch.
Welcome and yes, good point Lets just keep aiming for 80 points ourselves and see how much futher we can get from there
Welcome to the forum. Yes, it's hard to believe a scenario where we could lose 13 matches and get automatic. Having said that, Hull lost 15 last season and made it! We number crunch because we know we're doing well, we need to know how well! That fact that we could go up with another seven wins must be a great incentive to dig deep and get the three points every time they take the pitch.
Thank you for the welcome guys. I have read these forums for some time. Always entertaining. I agree with you Gangsta, the incentive is there to keep winning. The difference this season seems to be the mental attitude of the players, it's really impressive. They don't look like they will cave in.
Weclome Ragtime Just realised, we have only lost 5 games all season And only drawn 3! That's crazy! Doesn't feel like that at all!
I feel that the majority of our 2-1 and 1-0 wins this season, would have been draws (or even losses!) last season.
Just updated the stats. The remaining 12 games using last season's results we us with 98 points 6 wins, 3 draws & 3 losses
Could not agree more FF but point out the astute signings of Marcin, Kevin and Gary TF to keep chins up !
I take it these stats relate to corresponding fixtures, not our rubbish run-in? I've checked myself - we only got 11 points from our last 12 fixtures. That would leave us on 88, which would have won us the Championship last year. That's right ladies and gentlemen, even if we're as **** as we were Mar-May last season, we should still go up!
