There's always talk about the next big star and who can make it from the Academy into the first team, so with that in mind I'm going to post a thread on every Academy player and try to find out a bit about them. First up is...... Krisztian Adorjan please log in to view this image Profile Krisztian is an attacking player who likes to play just off the frontman. He arrived at the Academy from MTK Hungaria in the summer of 2009 and has a knack for scoring spectacular goals. The Hungarian youngster has captained his country at various levels and has started to show his true quality after a season adapting to the English game. Now physically stronger, he was a major player in the U18 side that came so close to title glory in 2010-11, scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists. He will spend the 2013-14 season on loan at Dutch outfit FC Groningen. In July 2012, new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers brought Adorjan on the first team's pre season tour of the USA. Adorjan made his debut for the senior side in the 1-1 draw against Toronto, and then got more game time four days later against Roma. Adorjan returned from the tour and took his place with the U21s, and appeared rejuvinated. He was one of the star performers during the 2012-13 Reserves season as he scored 12 goals from 31 games. He was given opportunities to train at Melwood and even accompany the senior side on some of their matchdays during the season, however he failed to make his competitive debut and lamented at the end of the season that his chances of ever breaking into the first team were only '20-30%.' On 6 July 2013, Dutch club Groningen announced that they had handed a trial to Adorjan with a view to a possible permanent transfer. Groningen announced on 23 July 2013 that they had taken Adorjan on loan for the 2013-14 season, reportedly with an option to make the deal permanent. Seen a fair bit of him on LFC tv and thought he was going to be really good but doesn't seemed to have progressed. Look out of his depth during 2012 tour. Not for me.
I agree with kph - The lad just hasn't progressed, if anything he's took a step back. He'll probably have a reasonably good career, but not with us.
i see another garcia in the making personally, either amazing or absolute ****e, we need consistency, and don't think we will see it with him sadly. only really one player i have high hopes for, well i did (there's a clue lol) but assume you will be doing them one at a time, so wait until then.
this guy is another alex k... he aint up to it for us but might make a career someplace. I mean irwin was a nice player at this level but look at him. LFC's problem is we play the academy game but don't have the chelsea fund to drive players like this out on good loans to develop. we should have 20 out in loan not a few scattered about the lower leagues when its already too late. we need a feeder club too to send 2/3 together to. in the end we have so much money but not enough to buy top players not invest in kids going out. we depend on managers to come in and ask.
It is a balance. It shown for many teams though how regular football makes such a difference to a players development. Tom Ince is an example, Matic and Cork for Chelsea. I strongly believe that there are a lot of players that are deemed not good enough when they are, but not given a chance. The best examples of this are the host of players who played for Swansea and Southampton as they rose up through the leagues. Leon Briton, Rickie Lambert, etc have shown that given the chance they will preform well in the Premiership. There is a lot to be said about playing with those who you work best with, and playing in a team that suits the players involved. Torres at Chelsea is the simplest example of moving to a team that doesn't 'fit'
Just had a quick look to see where he is nowadays and saw this picture... [nsfw]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...opped).jpg/286px-Daniel_Pacheco_(cropped).jpg[/nsfw] ...he's wearing my boots!!!
