The former Blackpool boss has revealed that his son was wanted by Brendan Rodgers' side but he doesn't feel he's ready yet
    ready.

Not ready: It makes sense for Ince to use a stepping stone rather than jumping to a big club says his dad

Tom Ince turned down a return to Liverpool during the January transfer window, according to his dad, ex-Blackpool boss Paul.

Ince was sold by the Reds back in 2011, when he made the move to Blackpool, but with his contract running down re-emerged as a target for the Reds last month, even more so following his father's dismissal as Tangerines' boss.

However, having spoken to a number of clubs - including Swansea, Stoke and Hull - the 22-year-old Ince decided to head to Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season.

However, according to his father, Palace is precisely the kind of stepping stone Ince junior needs.
"Liverpool were in but I don't think Thomas is ready to go to Liverpool yet.
"Brendan [Rodgers] has done very well there and he does play the kids but for his progression as a footballer it needed to be a Stoke, a Swansea, a Palace or a Hull at this point.
"Maybe in two or three years' time that might be a move for him."
The younger Ince has himself spoken highly of looking to fit in at Selhurst Park for the remainder of the season, as Tony Pulis looks to drag the Eagles to safety.
"I went to Swansea and spoke to them, then I spoke to Steve Parish and then on the way back up north I spoke to Mark Hughes and Stoke," said Ince, speaking to TalkSPORT.
"The whole saga wasn't entirely true, I spoke to three clubs who I felt I would fit in well at and Crystal Palace were the one for me.
"I came down to London, spoke to Steve [Parish] and Tony and I got that sense that Palace is the place for me for the rest of the season and now I've just got to show the faith that they've placed in me."

they have pulis as manager ffs, he wont be playing football, he will be chasing hoofs.

not the kind of mentality we will be looking for in a player, he needed to go to a team where he needs to use his feet not his pace.

i do hope we are done with him now, if we was interested that is.

out the clubs listed funny he has gone to the worst he could have done.

so its blatantly the bright lights or the wages that he has gone there!

you need to ditch your old man lol.

This tbh, really don't rate him. Sterling is miles ahead and Redmond at Norwich would be ahead of Ince imo.

  6. I didn't want us to re-sign Ince so I'm happy he's gone elsewhere. However, I'm astonished that stick the lad gets. People criticised him for leaving us in the first place, I admire the fact he wanted to play football. Some have claimed he moved for the money which is bollox since we offered him more to stay than he got at Blackpool. Now his attitude isn't right because he's chosen to play for a so-called lesser Premier League club when the reality of it is he will actually play games there. Fair enough if you think the tactics at Palace aren't right for him (reminder that Pulis plays hoof ball but he also uses wingers; Etherington, Pennant, etc at Stoke).

I personally think it is a refreshing change to see a player choosing what is best for him self and his career path before money, greed and over ambitiousness!

I think this loan move to a Premier League club knowing full well that you'll be a free agent come the summer is a very good intelligent move by Ince. Of course, if he fails to perform then it could massively backfire too.

can i translate this crap once again...

    daddy says... daddy says.

daddy takes a slice of wedge from palace to allow sonny to go there for 6 months, gets exposure in prem and hopefully drums up a big fee i nthe summer... for daddy.

stay a f'n way from this mercenary.

    blatantly aimed at me,

him being offered more money here and he chose to leave has feck all to do with the here and now about wages, and its either the bright lights or wages he has chosen to go to palace isnt it, hull, swansea and stoke is hardly ambitious is it, but would have made more sense for him to have gone to one of those than palace, just hope he enjoys his 5 months in the prem lol

so i don't like pullis, i am entitled to my opinion.

also it looks like he does what daddy says not what he thinks is best for him, and bright lights and london at a young age unless he is kept an eye on is a recipe for disaster.

jenners i could be aimed at me too.

pulis is a kicker. he's dirt. i agree

ince for me has a daddy in his ear looking out for daddy. he was fine to hold the kid in blackpool while daddy was manager wasn't it.. now he's got wedge from palace and i am sure he'll be looking for a move that will pocket daddy another nice wedge this summer.

  10. It wasn't aimed at you at all, it was aimed at a lot of poster (if we must say its aimed at anyone at all) as this opinion seems to fit with the majority on here. Nothing wrong with that as everyone is entitled to an opinion. I wasn't actually having a go at anyone either. I just find it astonishing <ok>

  11. Surely having "daddy" in your ear who has been there and done it himself so therefore advising through experience is better than an agent doing it?

It seems to me you have a issue with Paul Ince the individual rather than Paul Ince the father of Tom.

So according to the queue of players that apparently can't wait to tell the world they turned down LFC in January our Transfer committee was extremely busy after all. Seems they've learned how to get their names in the sports pages...mention us.

    Nice one......

not when its all about daddy.

I'd rather be a regular kid or even neymar so if your parents got a big lump for you going to a great club fine but to be hocked to blackpool and then palace?

I reckon the kid will end up in a bad place but daddy will be richer than ever.

For me... I am gald we didn't cos he don't need him nor would he improve us and his dad is bad news.

  15. He was sat in the Liverpool reserves stagnating. He moved to Blackpool and has since played 100 games, something he wouldn't have got by staying. He's joined Palace on loan to put him self in the shop window. I agree one of the other clubs would have perhaps been better but maybe Palace were the only ones to offer him regular first team football rather than a squad place? I don't know.

My point is, players like Rodwell, Sinclair, Salah, etc get stick for choosing money over football because they won't get to play many games. when someone does the opposite such as Tom Ince, surely this should be commended? Or is it a case of players can't win unless they choose to play for us?

    This.

Seems like people are venting their frustration at Paul Ince with this.

Can't really see the problem with the kid listening to his Dad's advice, this would be perfectly normal for any individual let alone for someone whose Dad has done everything in the the same profession you are in.

  17. I seem to remember Paul Dalglish doing similar too. Unfortunately, he never quite made the step back up.
