I normally don't post on the name change threads however I have a vague recollection of York city changing from ycfc to ycsc (soccer club) when a crazy American owner came in and claimed it would get them greater exposure in the US of A. He also changed Bootham Crescent to Kit Kat Crescent.

My question is did he apply to change football to soccer or did he just change it - I thought he just changed it but maybe I'm wrong. Or maybe you can change the end without approvals etc. if we wanted to change from Hull City AFC to Hull City for example is the same process necessary or is it just a matter of deleting it from our name. Apologies, I'm thinking and rambling now....

Our registered name is Hull City AFC. This cannot be changed as its our name when we registered with the FA.

Our playing name is Hull City and to change it you need the permission of the FA. Which is what Assem Allam has done.

I wouldn't be surprised if the FA isn't considering changing the rules to stop clubs changing the name mid season without applying for a name change as a result of us being called Hull City Tigers by other clubs in their publicity.

    I hope this is clear.

Yes it is - I was actually more interested as to whether York applied to change their name or whether they just did it (were the rules different back then - approx 15 years ago at a guess)

God help us from people like you. Please someone apply to the Blind Institute for this guy to get a guide dog. He wants a stadium that the taxpayers of Hull paid somewhere in the region of £44 million to build for nowt<doh>

And you believe him? He has lied to the fans that many times it is probably another figment of his imagination

I don't know if they applied, but it was changed back as soon as John Bachelor no longer had control. It and the badge was changed for wider branding and expanding the market to America after John had saved them from liquidation.

So Mr Allam, you're not even the first to try and fail with this idea. <ok>

It's this type of view that plays straight into the hands of Assem Allam, The Boothferry tin rattlers, stuck in the glory days of being in what league?
Its those flaskers like the posters Mam and Dad who are the ones who don't join CTWD, don't respond to the polls, but every season buy a season pass for the West Stand upper. Ask them if they will stop going and the answer is no, they have their routine.
The view that supporting Hull City on a wet night in Torquay makes you any more of a supporter than say Ellewood, who supports Hull City but hasn't seen them play live, is outdated.
I used to hold a belief that supporters who have never missed a match where to be admired, but then I had to look back at the reasons why I haven't, armed service, young family, 5 redundancies, weekend working, taking part in other sports, family holidays, the list goes on. In other words living life, I don't think it's something to be proud of, not missing a match home or away, it's actually a little bit extreme.

^This. I'm sick of people saying "You aren't from Hull, you have no right to an opinion about the team because you don't love them as much as me." It borders on extremism. Because I wasn't born in a certain area, or did certain things, I'm somehow of lesser importance?

At the same time, in my view you should show due respect to those that did stick around in the dark days because that made sure there was still a Hull City for others to pick, choose or go back to. Like it or not, football needs people in the grounds.

To be fair, I don't think that is the view of the majority on here.

Do you support CTWD? Because one of the considerations for the future is to have the KC for far less than its worth.
At the moment the plan would be for a partnership between Assem Allam, a supporters trust and HCC to develop the area. How much will the partnership pay for the KC then?

Yes respect for my family who paid for advertising boards, or who where employed by the club in its darkest hours, for my mates who made as many games as they could, for my missus who sacrificed trips to see her family so that I could come back to Hull and watch as we lost against Hartlepool in the dying minutes. Respect for my mate who hitch hiked to games when he was a student. Including Torquay.

When I retired from Hockey, I had the time to get to games, I hardly ever paid for a ticket, I always had complimentary ones. Every Sunday for 40 odd years I had made the usual call home. Even if I had been home for the weekend, when I got back down south, I still would ring. The topic was nearly alway the same during the season, "what about City Dad"? We would talk about why they always lost in the last few minutes, or so it seemed.
As I got up to more and more games, I got closer to my Dad. He kept things close to his chest, so the news that he had cancer, rocked me. I couldn't keep asking him if he was alright, but I could talk to him about City.
So in the February I got my first season pass, the reasons where, I had the time, the money, I was fed up with sitting in new seats every match and most of all it was a great excuse to come home to see my Dad.
His death changed a lot of things, now I was coming up to watch the match, staying at our house and going into the kitchen wanting to share with him, but he wasn't there. My Mam needed us now and so the routine changed slightly, but no more City talk.
Hull City is more than just a game of football played in amber and black, it's part of who I am. I never went to Torquay, but is anyone going to say to me I am less of a supporter?
Hull Tigers will not be the same.
Why don't I join CTWD, becuase I wanted to try another path. One without protest.
I cannot join any protest group anyone who knows me and understands the work I do understands why.

Nobody is saying you're less of a supporter if you don't join in.

You care about it though, because you're posting on a thread about it.

Yes CTWD want the name change to be overturned/ chucked out, but they want it by fair democratic means, ie a vote for the fans. They don't want to be told "this is my club, it's happening" to paraphrase Mr Allam.

I doubt you'd abstain from a vote given a choice (even if you were a fan of Allam's proposal).

I did it the wrong way round - followed us whilst we battled to stay in the league - and I watched some truly ****e city teams - then I headed to oz when things started to turn - I've only seen one premier league game live - hull city 1 Sunderland 4 - great game that was..... Not sure how those people would classify me - anti-plastic maybe?

There's loyal long time supporters on all sides of the fence .

If missed just under 3 seasons in the last 48 seasons.....not by choice.

I am a loyal ...long time supporter and the name change isn't such a big deal.

If 15,000 signed the petition then 2 thirds of them are glory hunters who never turned up when we got sub 5,000.

Spreading lies on the HDM site again I see, rather an unpleasant thing to do if you ask me...

You need to go talk to the leaders of CTWD sots.

You don't even know what they want.

    A) no name change
    B) a place on the board ( for free )
    C) Assem Allam giving them the club ( for free )
