Let's not forget, the board has done very little wrong with regards to appointing new managers. Flynn, Jacket, Martinez, Sousa, Rodgers and Laudrup. All improvement season on season. My panic meter has gone from 8/10 to 6/10. The board will do the right thing. (Gulp! *crosses fingers*)
I agree and have the same concern. We need these guys to perform and I believe there was hope with ML but not sure what will happen now. Board has taken a late risk and I get the impression they try to him to quit.. don't think he deserved that.
Not sure maybe .. Sousa one season, ML sacked, Brendan got lucky, he was 5th choice so....I believe board have made, at the very least a very poorly timed decision...
Monk can make a complete fool of himself if Swansea loses this weekend - WHO will pick the team up after that???
Sorry mate, but could you really be confident almost 12 months of decline under Laudrup, was ever so quickly going to be reversed. How come some Jacks could see this coming (as in the team struggling), so so long ago?? But the likes of you are still acting as if nothing was happening, it would all of a sudden come right & now it hasn't, it's the board's fault. I support everything that has the best interests of the club at heart. Over the last 13 years, it's reliably been the board. As we stand now, Monk, the team & the board have my support. Same as it was Laudrup earlier....
Are you for real!! This is the same board who took on board the vision of Martinez to get where we are now!! ffs..
I'm bitterly disappointed as a lover of all things sexy and Scandinavian, but more torn as a secret Swan. I realise that speculation surrounding Laudrup would be enough to make the squad lose a little bit of concentration, but he seems to have said all the right things in interviews to make this seem like an odd decision. Clearly behind closed doors it was a bit more strained than anyone anticipated, however. I wish Laudrup well, still going to support him wherever he ends up, and still going to secretly support the Swans, wherever they end up!
Because the same **** happened to Newcastle last season, struggling with the league, Europa, and injuries galore (ring any bells) yet look what they did, stuck with the manager, and look at what has happened since. We are not all under the impression that we have a god given right to stay in this league, and based on what has been happening, I was not actually worried. I am bloody worried now though. And all due respect mat,e I was one of those who said we would struggle, didn't take a genius seeing as we were in Europe, the difference is, some have jumped the gun IMO. So you support the board in the farce that was our summer, with all the stories going around about a falling out between board and manager, and that he may leave, yet it had nothing to do with that, it was ML's agent, and the board said nothing. Or about the fact that our board haven't got a ****ing clue on our own contracts (Ki) Or how about that th board did not discuss ML on sunday, yet today it seems they were pissed off that he disapeared for 2 days after the West Ham game, so you telling me they did not know anything about it Sunday to not even discuss it? You can follow the board with blind faith if you want, but if you think they are innocent in all this, then sorry, you keep believing that, I certainly will not.
True. Europa has been a crippling curse for a number of clubs like us, it's only the bigger clubs used to Champs league that have coped with it. Preparation time between matches goes down, fitness levels are stressed to the limit, and injuries upon injuries occur as a result. It's a horrible negative spiral that only significant investment in a squad can actually counter-act, and clubs not used to European competition simply won't sanction the budget to go and get the new players required.
Probably the most important Premier League game ever, 5th round FA cup game against Everton and a 2nd round Europa league game in our next 4 games .The board are running on bitterness looking at this timely sacking, seriously!
Don't need any bells to be rung to be honest, thanks all the same.... They were already ringing from last season!! I could see as early as the start of last season it was difficult to get a full 90 minutes of football out of the team. Don't think the Europa, injuries or any other excuse, we're relevant then. Hard work, grit & willing are needed as much as skill to succeed. To often, unfortunately, that's been lacking under a Laudrup team. I'm really disappointed the way it's worked out for him. He's a legend in football as a player, but that doesn't always mean you'll be the same as a manager. We are who we are, if we are good enough to stay in this league, we have the right to stay here. Don't think anyone thinks we have a god's given right too!! Last time I looked, Newcastle got battered at home by Sunderland!! Think that could've been a similar scenario on Saturday against our bitterest rivals, had Michael stayed....
Well they've not done too bad for amateur's over the last 10 years, with managers from Swansea now at Liverpool and Everton?
I'm sure Rodgers and Martinez would have loved to have the 4 million £ , that Huw threw out the window sacking Laudrup , during there stay at Swansea .
Might end up a small price to pay in the long run.... Think Bobby & Brendan have done very nicely for themselves anyway....
