A huge sigh of relief in the dressing room

We can reveal Laudrup's departure was met with a huge sigh of relief within the dressing room.

Although the Dane’s 18-month reign saw Swansea win the Capital One Cup, reach the knockout stages of a European competition and enjoy another impressive season in the Premier League, success on the pitch disguised complete chaos off it. There was a lack of discipline, dressing room bust-ups, cliques and Laudrup’s relationship with chairman Huw Jenkins had long since broken down when the axe fell on Tuesday evening

The players complained Laudrup was aloof, not interested in training and even refused to take sessions when it was raining. When they went to Dubai for a training camp, the only rules enforced were that the players had to be on the bus for 11am and back on it by 1pm. Much of the training camp was spent drinking. The players wanted discipline - and did not get it. And that was typical of Laudrup’s reign.

We can reveal there several player delegations went to Jenkins to complain about Laudrup’s lack of training and discipline. The fact that the 49-year-old saw fit to go to Paris and give the players two days off after Saturday's bad defeat at Upton Park was, in Jenkins’ eyes, typical of his attitude to the job. Laudrup did take training on Tuesday, but a series of meetings took place in the afternoon as Jenkins’ decision to overhaul the backroom staff - with defender Monk joining the set-up - putting their relationship under further strain.

Last month, Monk was involved in a training ground bust-up with Swansea's Spanish defender Chico Flores that led to police being called. The players had complained that they were motivating themselves and therefore Jenkins decided he could dispense with Laudrup - even though it would cost around £4.5m to sack him.

But even before that there were rumblings of discontent and within weeks Laudrup’s relationship with Jenkins - and particularly the choice of agents to do deals - was under strain. They were hoping to hold on until the end of the season, but Jenkins feared that the defeat at West Ham did not spark a big enough reaction from Laudrup and he decided to act. Jenkins said: “It is the first time in nearly 10 years that the club has parted with a manager in this way, but we had to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and Michael’s long-term future with us.

“I had a meeting with Michael today in a final attempt to support him and establish a way to improve the work of the backroom team to secure the results we need over the final 14 Premier League games. “However, after thinking long and hard about the best way forward, I felt it was unlikely we would achieve a stable environment at the club to allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few years.

“Now we need to put that uncertainty behind us and move forward as a united football club on all fronts, while placing on record our gratitude to Michael for the work he has done over the last 18 months and wish him well for the future. “I hope all our supporters can fully understand how difficult this period has been for us and I would urge everyone connected to the football club to get behind Garry Monk, the staff and players.’’ - DailyMirror

It is a copy paste of a WOL article.

So the players were annoyed with Laudrups training, so that explains why they have been utter ****e on the pitch, its all the managers fault.

All that sounds like excuses coming out to justify their reason for getting rid. And it doesn't make much sense to me.

They then give the head coach role to one of the players involved in a lack of discipline, and a training ground bust up, it all smacks of closing ranks to me.

Players had to motivate themselves, so where were our club captain and team captain, because its clear as day they couldn't motivate us either, yet here he is with the head coaching role.

This really does not add up.

No mention of, which in the grand scheme of things were utter ****e January signings, no wonder the loss against West Ham didn't get Laudrup interested, some of us noticed how disinterested he looked prior to the west ham game, and those who mentioned it, had a feeling the January window may have had a reason for it. For me, the board are being tight buggers, and doing a Sousa all over agian, and tried getting him to quit. For me the board are not up to task.

There are some quotes in there allegedly from Huw Jenkins. Now he has already proved himself to be a ****ing liar in the press this week so why should we believe this stuff ?

It's astonishing stuff if true, doesn't seem in-keeping with my perception of Laudrup at all.

If you sack someone, you're hardly going to sing their praises and say they were a positive influence on the players, so I'm weary of the source to be honest.

Dragon i told everybody the type of guy that laudrup was last season let alone this season. I heard about all the unrest and feelings towards laudrup by most of the players and the staff at Swansea city not long after he arrived but nobody believed me. I don't blame laudrup as that is his style, he was use to being a celebrity and looked up to. Christ he even thought he was above Jenkins.....It must have been hard going for him at times but he just would not change. He would ignore any non playing staff at the club and the atmosphere was appalling....We will see a much better atmosphere throughout the club now from everyone. Its just another chapter of our club and nobodies fault, not jenkins ,not laudrups. It's over now and we have to accept that laudrup was not right for us and we were not right for him...

Too much confusion???!!! I put 100% into work and I have the discipline to act in the correct manner I don't need my boss to lick my arse to keep me motivated and act professional!

So why the **** does overpaid football players need a manager to tell them how to conduct themselves in a professional manner!! They are paid obscene amounts of money not to act like children!!!

I can understand if they thought Laudrups tactics wasn't up to scratch or that he just didn't manage the team missing training sessions etc.

Well that's a fair point, but this is looking like the Sousa situation, managers with big ego's? Looks like the club party line from Jenkins though!.......<ok>

If you cut through the obvious agenda of that article the only real criticism directed at Laudrup is that he trusts his players too much and gives them too much freedom. I think this is all down to the boards relationship with Laudrup, which obviously must have soured since all that stuff with his agent.

A good manager would bond with his players and most of our players were use to the manager not just being their boss but their friend also. That never happened and there was a big gap between them.....the players are bound to feel intimidated at the end of the day. no bond = little or no respect which reflects on to the pitch, I expect to see a better response from the players now even though Monk was their captain and team mate, After all Martinez proved an ex captain and fellow player can take charge and be successful..

what are the board suppose to do with us just two points away from a relegation spot and going backwards, the same fans would be the first ones to say jinks and the board should have done something if we kept him and we went down....they cant win......just accept they are the bosses and they saw what a lot of other fans saw that laudrup was rubbish and a decision had to be made...Rodgers style won us the league cup every knowledgeable fan knows that and the minute he finally took over we went to rat ****....He had to go and it should have been a lot sooner too...
