I honestly believe the Swansea board have plunged into the relegation fight before the Club seriously was a part of it. Panicking. I agree that the West Ham game was an all time low (together with the st. Gallen away game). Maybe in Huw you trust, but do you really have the same kind of faith in Monk. Can he manage a squad where half the players are coming back from injuries. And on top 1/3 of the players are, one way or another, hand picked by Laudrup. Monk has no coaching experience at all, can he do a Tim Sherwood? Or will he just get Swansea relegated quietly - playing Emnes as a top striker? WHO is to blame for the Clubs precarious position in the League as it stands (Laudrups management, injuries, playing Europe for the first time, crazy fixture list), and what will you think if the Club, from where it is today, loses heavily to Napoli, loses in the FA cup and is actually relegated? Laudrup? Monk? I don't think so... The board has - Again - shown no class at all. Neglecting the achievements that Laudrup has accomplished. Maybe the Club is satisfied battling against relegation. The actions taken during the previous, and this, transfer window shows no ambition on the boards behalf. I'm honestly shocked and fear the worst for this Club, I hope to be proven wrong...
Mikra, trend charts show Swansea were going to finish last in the league. We would be lucky to beat Napoli even at the Liberty and the FA Cup still has very strong teams. If Laudrup stayed then that trend showed we'd be relegated with no silverwear and don't forget that even Laudrups own signing gave up playing for HIM.
Im disgusted with our board, I mean they ****ed around in the January window with players who in all fairness are not going to add nothing to us as a club, they then sack the manager, who although has not had a good time of late, is still only getting players back from injury, they need game time to come good, we hadn't even had Michu back. And we now hand over control to a guy who although is Swansea through and through, like you say, has no experience. I have never once been embarrassed by the actions of our board, until tonight. Part of me wants us to survive, the other part wants us to go down, so that the board can be given the boot and get someone in there that knows what the **** they are actually doing.
Board are a complete disappointment. Players have shown no guts and no matter what they say there's a poor team spirit and I think behind the scenes there's a couple of bad eggs. Some of MLs selections have been woeful. All in all everyone's to blame but the board wins by a nose
Yeah - surely Monk is going to do that much better, no way... Not with the players Swansea currently have in the squad. WHO will run their lungs out for Monk? Michu, Davies, Canas or Bony?
Swimaway alluded to this last night and everything he said last night has been bang on the money! Laudrup lost the dressing room a while back when you look at our performances on the pitch.
Rangel, Taylor, Britton, Jonjo, Dyer, Routledge, Bony more than respect Monk etc. If they don't want to play for the club, they too can f**k off.
If Monk is put in charge then who he surrounds himself is vitally important. While people say he has no coaching badges, he has the benefit of being on the receiving end of the training of Roberto Martinez, Brendan Rodgers and Michael Laudrup. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge will have picked up a wealth of football coaching knowledge during that time. The question is, can he apply that knowledge? Will he have the respect of the players? As I said above this will depend on who he surrounds himself with. This could be the start of a Swansea dynasty - keeping things in house as Liverpool used to do. Who knows, funnier things have happened.
Considering he is a motivator you can't say he will be worse than Laudrup, you have to realise that those players you listed no longer wanted to work with Laudrup. They didn't trust his methods and lost all confidence in him due to his lack of passion and determination. I think they will bust a gut for Monk, and Monk will whip their butts if they don't give 100%. He will have no issue dropping the slackers and it is the slackers who will suffer, where will Michu and Chico go? Back to Spain? Like hell, that country is bankrupt.
The board wins short term because they have the sacking/hiring power - long term, it's a flip of a coin. The only selection i really found questionable was the setup when we played Cardiff, all other were worthy a discussion more than anything.
Also, Davies would likely idolise Monk more than Laudrup. Monk is the most successful captain in the history of his home club history, and is written in his home club's history as being a major role player in the clubs rise to the Premier League. Things like that make an enormous impact of the youngsters and even other players at the club.
I think Rangel and Britton have done enough to be regarded as Swansea boys. Taylor may actually get some game time. For Jonjo this is his new home where he has a good rapport with most fans, Dyer has been here under several managers and is probably close to Monk, Routledge has always been a football gypsy but he has been here a long time although there was talk of him going back to London at the start of the season and I think Bony is his own man!
So you agree giving the two goal shy loanee's constant chances ahead of Donnelly was right? 1 Premier League between them??
Agreed. There are more than enough players who will be respecting Monk, forgot to add Ash into my list also. If the Laudrup signings have a problem, then they have to play well to engineer a move away.
Reading WalesonLine it is fairly obvious that journalists were aware of problems. Not doing something similar to fiddling whilst Rome burned. The board have been brave in my opinion.
Monk has played alongside Williams, Taylor, Rangel, Britton, Routledge, Dyer, Vorm, on a regular basis, he is well known to these who represent the spine of our team, and he played some games last season with Michu too, so I'm sure he'll can command the respect, and get the boys back motivated, he's Swansea City through and through!...............
I haven't seen Donnely play, but I stand by what I've said. So you got, say, 8-10 squad players loyal to Monk. That'll make a fine campaign. Oh, that's not counting Emnes and N'Gog LOL
This man turned down bigger clubs for us....making public statements that he was not interested and definitely wouldn't leave us and his signings in the lurch mid season. How do we repay him? Sack him derby week...denying him the chance to answer his critics by finishing the Prem season with Michu & co. back from injury....denying him the chance to get us to another domestic cup final, after he engineered our first ever win at Old Trafford....denying him the chance to finish our European campaign, an adventure that we owe to one Michael Laudrup who delivered our first and only major trophy in his first season. I've seen more class displayed on Jeremy ****ing Kyle. We really have embarrassed ourselves this time.
I honestly believe the Swansea board have plunged into the relegation fight before the Club seriously was a part of it. What ....How can you say that when we were just 2 points off a relegation place and dropping points left right and center....we were heading for last place with our form that has not changed for over a season and a half...Jinx to be fair to him gave laudrup more than enough chances to turn things around and it never happened and never looked like happening. 8 wins in one and a half seasons and not a single back to back win this season and only 14 games left to play....jinx had no choice at the end of the day as it was ether keep laudrup in the hope he can overturn our form which he has not been able to do for over a year or bring in some fresh ideas in the hope our fortunes change in the remaining games left to play......Jinx has made the right decision as at least now we have a chance of survival....
