so who was the guy who stood in when Malky was sacked!? Monk (like Curtis) is jack through and through and has been there and done that (like a large group of our core players), he will do a good interim job and probably be offered a coaching post to our next manager - im chuffed for him

No arguments with this. I'm expecting a relatively easy win for you this weekend. Gary monk has absolutely no experience and our players are bound to be divided over this.
Would be pretty embarrassing for you though we're your team to actually lose to a manager who has never managed a game in his life...

How on earth is he going to get players like cheato, and the other spaniards/foreign players up for this there was always the reported rift between the two groups. This one as they say is there for the taking, just like the west ham match

Post said 'resigned'; I thought he was sacked?

Anyway as I have just posted on another thread, not a good time for a caretaker to come in. Happened recently at Sheff Wed & WBA who then picked up good results. Bet it'll happen down west<steam>

Curtis is still there and has been one of the constants for you over a number of years and managers. I'm sure a lot of it will come down to how he can rally the troops. It'll be a hard game either way, but Monk will get the likes of Davies, Williams, Britton and perhaps Dyer and Routlege up for this. If he can get the Spaniards to join the party you could go on a winning streak.

Mind you, they could carry on a losing streak as well.

The effect of the changes in management of both clubs wont play out until the end of the season so this game isn't a question of "loser goes down". However, the psycological effect of a win/loss to either club could be a massive pointer toward the final table positions.

If Swansea get the result with effectively new team management, it'll be an instant return and huge boost after the recent poor form under Laudrup - a loss however will really start the bumholes twitching down there.

For Cardiff, and apart from the bragging rights blah di blah, a win would be seen as vindication of our new style of management that has already been in place for a month. A loss would be less unexpected but would inevitably push us toward the point of no return save for a few miracles. Playing catch up is not easy on the nerves for anyone and it can be frustrating getting a good win and seeing the clubs just above you get a result themselves at the same time and you make no headway in the table.

A draw is really no good for either though Cardiff would be the more satisfied - both need to win and secure maximum points - a point apiece at this stage is not really the answer for either club.

The biggest problem for both clubs and supporters might be that the desire not to lose takes the game that way and overcomes the ambition to win it.

I'd take a draw now Sparks. 4 pts from these first 2 games would leave us needing 3 from Villa or Hull to get the 7 from the month I thought was a minimum we needed to stay in the hunt.

Anything over 7 points from this month (bearing in mind our form going into it 1pt from 21) would have to be seen as success imo.

A draw will obviously be 2 points dropped for a relegation rival at home too.

I'd take a point right now as well Stevo to be honest, but all three points are be achievable. Preventing Swansea from getting 2 points maybe all well and good as they are clearly now in the frame for the drop, but if the others around us pick up maximums, we could start getting detached. Of course plus the fact that it's Swansea.

Villa and Hull are monster home Prem games to finish the month and I'll be dissappointed if we don't take all 6 points - we really need to win these mini league home games coming up.

With Fulham, Palace and Stoke still to visit the CCS, these are the crunch games. Bollucks to Tottenham and Everton away next month - we'll be very fortunate to get anything from them. Not saying we should throw the towel in against them, but we can play well again like we've just done against the two Manchester clubs last month, coming home with points is another matter.

I'd rather play half as well and scrape wins in our home games rather than get pats on the back for "good effort" resulting in **** all on the board.

The Wigan Cup game in between the Villa and Hull games should be used to prove the squad depth. I don't want to lose it, but Ole should have enough about him to pick a side capable of beating the Cup holders without taking unnecessary risks.
