"Swansea City chairman rejects Michael Laudrup rumours

"Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has rejected claims the club have discussed manager Michael Laudrup's future. "

Bloody hell, this is insane. The Jacks were tipped to go back down and they are currently twelth in the league...

The biggest criticism of Pardew throughout his career is that he does really well in his first year and then loses his way, so why replace him with someone who's biggest criticism so far has been that he does really well in his first year and then loses his way?

Boss Michael Laudrup leaves Swansea City

Swansea City have sacked boss Michael Laudrup and put club captain Garry Monk in charge for Saturday's clash with arch-rivals Cardiff City.

The news came a day after chairman Huw Jenkins dismissed rumours that they had discussed Laudrup's future.

"It is a decision we have taken reluctantly," Jenkins told the club's website.

"But it's a decision made in the best interests of Swansea City football club and our supporters."

Rumours had been circulating about Laudrup's future since the Swans lost 2-0 at West Ham on Saturday.

It was their sixth defeat in eight Premier League games, leaving them only two points off the relegation places.

Monk had been tipped to join the club's back-rooms staff, but instead now finds himself in charge of the club ahead as they seek revenge over the Bluebirds for their 1-0 Premier League defeat at Cardiff City Stadium in November.

Jenkins added: "It is the first time in nearly 10 years that the club has parted with a manager in this way, but we had to remove the constant uncertainty surrounding the club and Michael's long-term future with us.

"I had a meeting with Michael today in a final attempt to support him and establish a way to improve the work of the backroom team to secure the results we need over the final 14 Premier League games.

"However, after thinking long and hard about the best way forward, I felt it was unlikely we would achieve a stable environment at the club to allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few years.

"Now we need to put that uncertainty behind us and move forward as a united football club on all fronts, while placing on record our gratitude to Michael for the work he has done over the last 18 months and wish him well for the future.''

I think you are missing the obvious. Kinnear to Swansea. Wood for the trees.

I'd die of laughter. Not that I have anything against Swansea, save that bald Nazi stormtrooper looking **** Shelvey, but it would be hilarious.

The Swansea owner isn't a viscious **** like our Mike though so they should be saved from such craziness.

I would chop off my scrotum and stitch it to the side of my face, if it would amuse Ashley long enough to distract him from his legal cabinet, and allow me to strike off Pards and replace him with Laudrup.

He wouldn't make for a perfect fit with the present squad, but he'd be a lot more inspiring than Pardew's tactics. He's also, quite importantly, very very sexy.

Would have Laudrup personally, has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Tottenham jobs during his time at Swansea. More chance of getting Pietersen though.

Complete insanity from Swansea but i'm glad really. Laudrup master-minded lifting the League Cup and getting them into Europe.
We know only too well what a massive drain the Europa League is on a squad...

Would I have him him here? Not sure... he's just too calm all the time! I like managers who growl and snarl a bit!

I'm now hopeful that Cardiff & Swansea will get relegated.

The only thing I can think about this is that maybe Laudrup's a bit aloof and feels he's now 'above' Swansea. He may have been just sauntering along knowing that whatever happens at Swansea, he'll walk into another job.

I don't think he'd work at the current Newcastle, so it's not even worth contemplating. It's one thing being a stepping stone for players, quite another when the manager is gazing blankly in the direction of Madrid.
