Liverpool Football Club today announced the club will return to the United States this summer to take part in the Guinness International Champions Cup as part of their 2014 pre-season tour. The Reds will join the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Manchester City, Manchester United, Olympiacos, Real Madrid and AS Roma in competing in the tournament. Liverpool's chief commercial officer, Billy Hogan, said: "We were last in the USA in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit, so we are delighted to be invited to take part in the Guinness International Champions Cup and revisit again this year. "This will be the club's seventh visit to North America, where we know we have a huge fan base, and being part of this tournament will allow us to bring the club closer to those supporters and engage with them once again." For the competition, the teams will be divided into two groups and will play at least three matches before the winners of Group A and Group B meet in the final at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami on Monday, August 4. Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.com in the coming weeks for official confirmation of fixtures, dates and venues. Please note: Liverpool FC's participation in the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup will be dependent on the games not impacting on any potential European qualification matches.
Them,Inter, and Juve were absolutely dreadful this past summer. Really good line up though!!! It's almost like we are back in the CL already!
is this trophy high up there with the emirates cup good line up though and the type of opo we should be testing our selves against, also IF we got top 4 would be vital experience for brendan to test his ideas against some of the best in europe.
It was really competitive last year and I think the final was Real and Chelsea and it looked like a CL game, atmosphere was good everywhere too. Now with this US tour, I will def be looking to go as we aren't playing Toronoto, Spurs, etc. but hopefully Real, City, Inter, etc.
Will find out in the coming days. Semis and finals I know will be in Miami and I can see an LFC game down there too.
Bluff, The club have announced pre-season tour details for this summer, although involvement in the Europa League could complicate matters. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-tour-usa-summer-6670513?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+menews+(Manchester+Evening+News+-+RSS+Feed) You forgot to mention this.
I have a friend that lives in Charlotte and he sent me a message yesterday saying that Liverpool will be playing City in Charlotte. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/02/03/4661470/stadium-deal-helps-lure-soccer.html#.UvEv42J_sdw
Holy mother of pearl... ... and I was just joking. I definately have to go to that will never get as good an opportunity again. Thank you.
Aye! Fantastic news. Crossing fingers they come. Can't miss out on tickets. Probably last chance I get.... and so close too... that less than 90 min drive for me.
Charlotte is decent too for a night out. Nothing crazy but good. Now if they play in Miami, I have friends down there and that could be a vacation!
Lol... www.wsoctv.com says "Liverpool vs Manchester City is one of the greatest rivalries in soccer". No, that's united you plonks... still... an awesome team to play against too though.
hahaha the american emirates cup It's always nice to have some decent opposition during the pre-season, makes it a bit more interesting to watch!
