Yes indeed, GFH,no money to invest allways wanted to flip the club to make money, A scummer,a dodgry scouser and a few others, with no hard cash, Or the eytie, lots of cash, experience of top level footie, but a nutter who has a penchant for sacking managers. Not the ideal option but I really don't see anyone else stumping up the cash. I'll go for the eyetie,I know many on here will disagree
What do you make of this article by Duncan castles, more trouble it seems Leeds United are facing a winding-up order after a businessman who has helped fund the club's losses under its Bahraini ownership threatened legal action to recover the seven-figure sum provided. Andrew Flowers, the driving force behind Sport Capital's failed takeover bid for the Championship club, is understood to have provided £2m of sponsorship through his company Enterprise Insurance last summer and a further £1.5m of loans in order to facilitate an attempt to purchase the club. The cash from Flowers and an unnamed partner was employed to finance a new contract for club captain Ross McCormack and pay player wages. Last month Flowers' consortium reduced its offer for the majority of Gulf Finance House's stake in the club after due diligence revealed unexpected liabilities on Leeds' books. GFH then agreed a sale to Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, an action Flowers earlier said would “not be in the interests of the club, the manager, the players or the fans”. “We were fully justified in revising our bid because a number of things have come to light which were not as originally described,” added Flowers in a statement. “This boils down to much more than money but GFH have chosen to ignore that. We believe the owners have breached their covenant with us but much more importantly they have breached their covenant with the fans.” Though the Cellino transaction had yet to receive Football League approval and – according to GFH, it remains unsigned – the Italian was allowed the run of Elland Road on Friday afternoon, swiftly sacking manager Brian McDermott and chief executive Paul Hunt. By Saturday lunchtime, following massed protest by Leeds supporters, McDermott and Hunt were both reinstated by GFH. According to multiple sources, Hunt was dismissed for a second time over the weekend, on this occasion by GFH. Asked about Hunt's second sacking on Monday, a GFH spokesman declined to comment. It is understood that Flowers plans to explain the reasons behind his winding-up order on Wednesday. Asked to comment on the club's main sponsor's threat to liquidate Leeds United on Monday, a spokesman for GFH declined to comment. Flowers also declined to comment. A Leeds supporter, Flowers has been invited to combine forces with the TogetherLeeds group led by Mike Farnan. While discussions between the two groups are yet to deliver a counteroffer to Cellino's, GFH admits it is “still in contact” with Farnan.
Jonny - this bloke is bad news. A few years back there was a power struggle in the Scouse underworld and he was bang in the middle of it. He was shot at but refused to co-operate with police, his parents house was petrol bombed, and he was attacked and shot at again - some members of the rival gang mysteriously disappeared shortly afterwards His business partner was a target when the hand grenade was left outside Kenny Dalglish' s house http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ide-home-Liverpool-legend-Kenny-Dalglish.html http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/crosby-businessman-terry-riley-attacked-3345645 He owns one of the most dangerous clubs in the country (I know - I've been in it) http://www.formbytimes.co.uk/news/f...htclub-funky-box-could-reopen-66401-29897389/ Do a search on him and his business partner (John Ball) and you'll find dozens of stories like this one http://www.formbytimes.co.uk/news/f...verton-player-alan-stubbs-bar-66401-23777221/
This has to be very disappointing for you. You don't need to use your winding up imagination and skills - way too easy!!! It seems like they are lining up to suck whatever they can out of the club. Has Bates shown how easy to it is to pillage the club and so now everyone wants their chance. Is Leeds United becoming synonomous with the bottomless drink that just keeps on providing nourishment to whomever wants to rip us off? Good heavens!!!!!!!!
I'll be honest, I woulda preferred Bates to have stayed and we just waited out for a reasonable owner to buy us (I did say this at the time, but I hoped GFH would do the same sorta job without the controversy so was happy with that). And out of interest, where is all this info coming from about impending admin and stupid **** like that, personally I don't believe that at all. I have not seen proof of this and I really don't think the club would've acted like they did in the summer or in January had this been the case. I know we didn't spend that much but we certainly didn't gain money in those periods.
Maybe now we know why Charlton sailed through the FL with their buyout in December and why ours was held up. Maybe gfh realised selling to the consortium wouldn't ever happen Who know s
I get the feeling they didn't sail through their buyout, difference was they didn't announce it two months premature
